It cuts like a knife...
...and it feels so right. Look...you want a paring knife for fruit and hoowhatnot? You likey the bird's beak feature? You want to avoid paying tens of dollars for a name brand made from exotic steel forged by the fires of Mordor under the eye of Sauron? You want me to get to the review? First, allow me to apologize for the Bryan Adams reference. While that song is a quality number culled from the album of the same name that greased the skid for Reckless, a powerhouse album full of classic 80's hooks and riffs, I am cognizant of the fact that he is also responsible for Waking Up the Neighbours (the start of his downward spiral) and a string of sappy, movie-soundtrack sell-out "I want to get a lot of money without really trying" songs that flooded brick-and-mortar stores and middle school dances everywhere. In retrospect, while Cuts Like A Knife was a quality album, the song Straight From The Heart was an eerie indicator of what was to come in his career: over-sung sappiness delivered by pushing his raspy voice. The album cover was also Nostradamus-like in hindsight: Adams in a bent-over pose as if he is subjecting the rest of us to something unpleasant smelling (future albums). Anyhoo...the knife is good. Accept the fact that the blade is 2.5 inches long and the handle is plastic and you'll be fine. Don't complain the knife is too short...they tell you its length! It's not like they send you a random size. Also, consider the price. You are getting a quality knife for peeling fruit at a low price. We use it mainly on apples and pears and it's fine. It stays sharp and we hand-wash it. There is no way you are too busy to hand-wash a knife this small. The bird's beak feature is nice. It allows for more control while peeling and gives you a chance to sound like a DB by identifying it as a "bird's beak" around friends who comment on the "curved" knife. In summation, Bryan Adams had a great two-album run and this knife is a great buy.

We grow ugly apples.....
We have a golden delicious apple tree out back. I'm not "allowed" to use any type of spray, etc, according to someone who lives with me (of the female variety). As a result, our apples are ugly and badly misshapen. I wait until they fall to the ground and first thing in the morning I pick up any that are large enough to use and have not been gnawed on by the occasional deer passing through the yard. As a result of their "shape", coring and cutting out the bad parts is extremely challenging. After trying several box store paring knives, I gave up, looked on Amazon and found this bird's beak SHARP paring knife. In a word, it is WONDERFUL! Just what I needed to get the job done. It is SHARP (one sister and my wife cut their fingers trying it out), easy to maneuver, easy to hold in arthritic hands, it does the job, and it is SHARP! The bird's beak tip is particularly handy in cutting out small defects. I initially ordered two, but gave one to my "wounded" sister because she fell in love with it. To be sure I had enough (in case the remaining one "evaporated" when we have visitors), I ordered a backup. This is my go-to paring knife. Love it. Oh, did I mention that it is SHARP?

Honest criticism
This particular knife actually out performed the more expensive pioneer woman paring knife. This knife is great for slicing on a board or hand carving. This knife is particularly good for cutting bell peppers down to size. If you're looking for the perfect paring knife. In my opinion, it would be the red victorinox birds beek paring knife, with the curved handle. I typically the red curved handle over the black straight handle.

Accuracy is spot on.
I gave this little knife 5 stars because I use it all of the time. I have two of them and might get another one. It is incredibly sharp which is a bit of a warning. When I first used this knife with the curved beak, I cut myself a couple of times. They were minor cuts, but I learned quickly that this is not your average paring knife. So, expect a few nicks at first. I love its accuracy and the ability it gives me to excise the smallest blemish in veggies and fruits. Very versatile.

Very sharp and useful paring knife!
Unbelievable useful tool! I have used this little knife for many things, trimming veggies to cutting strips of cheese for my scrambled eggs , to slicing the extra fat off of meat. This is the first time using a knife of this kind and I just love it. I am finding new ways to use this Bird's Beak Paring Knife all the time. This came very sharp and held it sharpness through many different ways, just be careful if using for the first time, the inside curve is the sharp part. It took me a little bit getting use to but I find my self grabbing this one before others when I need to cut or trim different foods. I do wish that it came with a cover, but I just cut out one of cardboard and fashioned one myself.
