Genuine Zeal PH1000 Digital Thermometer Hygrometer Min Max Temperature/Humidity

This is the second one I have purchased. I now have one in each greenhouse on my allotment, one for tomatoes and one for cucumbers. It shows a clear display of current temperature and humidity plus Max & Min values. Temp in either Degrees C or F. Max/Min can be zeroed.Altogether an excellent little gadget, compact easy to use and good value at just over £10. At this price if it gets nicked from the allotment it is not a great expense to buy another. And, yes, I have had another digital thermometer taken some time ago.It appears to be water resistant, in that I have sprayed it with a hose by accident with no after effects.So for a good value Thermometer/Hygrometer look no further. Definitely recommended.

A super little Thermometer/Hygrometer. Many thermometers only go up to 50C, but as I am currently working in a very hot region (I've photographed 49.8C on a public thermometer) I wanted one that went further, and this one does. I photographed 50.9 in the shade on it, one day. The controls are easy to operate, and the unit very reasonably priced. More then five years on, I am still using it, back in the UK.

Standard delivery was requested and the Zeal PH1000 digital thermometer hygrometer delivery was prompt, arriving within 3 working days. I wanted the equipment to do some simple relative humidity (RH) tests. The enclosed data gives the temperature accuracy within ± 1oC and the RH is given as ± 5%. A greater RH accuracy would cost much more than the price of the PH 1000. A saturated solution of sodium chloride (common salt) in a sealed environment has an almost constant RH that is independent of temperature over the 10 to 40oC range: 75%. The PH1000 was tested under these conditions for 8hrs. Within the sealed atmosphere a temperature of 11 to 13oC was recorded and the PH 1000 was just within the accuracy limit. However with the temperature at 13 to 15oC over the same time, the recorded RH was well within accuracy limits at 76%. More prolonged time tests are required but these initial results would suggest the PH1000 is excellent value for the money

Quality

This is a very smart looking thermometer with provision to hang it up or stand it on a flat surface. Nice sized display, easy to use and BRITISH! Seems to be very accurate and perfect for the greenhouse. What more can you ask for from a thermometer/hygrometer, oh very reasonably priced too I might add!

Previously, I bought a TFA-Dostmann thermometer, but returned it because it was slow to react to changes in temperature.GH Zeal said this unit will settle to a new temperature (e.g. when moving it from one room to another) in 60 seconds. It doesn't. It takes over half an hour to move through 5 degrees. Also, the display is a little murky in comparison to the TFA, and the plastic case seems a little more brittle. I've returned it.

Works really well and in use I was able to set the auto roof vent to a particular temperature rather than guessing. The outside probe needs care in its placement. At first it was in the shade, gaffer taped to the aluminium frame, on the outside of the greenhouse but a 1 degree difference max and min overnight from a heated greenhouse did not seem genuine. I then placed it under the rafter of the adjacent garage roof and hey presto the overnight temperatures are now significant and more realistic. Checked against other stand alone thermometers I do not doubt the readouts at all.
