Indispensible! Opens bottles and jars easily.

I have to hold my hands up and say I bought this opener by mistake, and have come to the correct conclusion that stupid should be my middle name. Our tin opener gave up and not really having a spare I rushed to Amazon and typed in can openers, again speed to try and catch next day delivery straight to best sellers. That's where I found this product, although I did think at the time it appeared a little strange looking for a can opener I quickly browsed the reviews. Reading words like "universal" and "opens anything" made my mind up along with the fact its Brabantia which to me means excellent longevity, reliability and design. So bought and caught next day delivery, arrived twenty hours later just in time for dinner. It was about then I started to adopt my new middle name, as no matter how I angled this opener I couldn't get the lid off the tin. I couldn't send it back because that would mean admitting that I am stupid and I wanted to keep it quiet, so I kept it. Over the next week I used it five or six times around the house, jars, varnish tins with plastic spouts, super glue lid and an over tight door handle threaded cover which I couldn't budge with pliers. I would recommend as a universal lid opener, useful and handy, I am happy with this purchase.I ended up purchasing the OXO good grip can opener which is a five star can opener so I can't be that stupid!

This really is a must for every kitchen It really works for alk sizes of bottles and jars, metal or plastic.

My wife has mishapen fingers due to Arthritis and this item does help her a little (unfortunately not as much as I had hoped). My wife has difficulty with bleach bottles that need the top squeezing and has not yet been able to master opening them with this device. Also the edges of some jar tops are not vertical but slanted and even I had some trouble getting a grip on them (I have no problems whatsoever with my grip). I had trouble opening one jar myself and tried this device - MAGIC it just popped open. So if you can actually grip the appropriate top and you are able to provide the necessary grip-force this is truely ideal.Any issues I have noted are NOT due to bad design by Brabantia (My whole direct family and I have been Brabantia fans for many years). One possible improvement would be for the handles to X when closed so that when trying to open a large jar with a small hand the handles are not so far apart.

Excellent, especially for people who have difficulty opening jars, bottles etc

I was given a Brabantia opener like this some years ago and find it a most useful gadget. I never struggle to open any screwtop jar or bottle. As it was so useful to me, I decided to buy ones for my mother and aunt, but have never managed to find them on the High Street or in the supermarkets. However, my aunt is now in her early 80s and finds opening jars difficult now, so I started looking online. It was good to find them for sale on Amazon and I am very pleased with my purchases. My aunt is very happy with her opener and says it's worked really well for everything she's tried so far.

I use this multi opener several times a week mainly to open bottles and jars. I have also bought them for friends and family.

Being disabled with reduced grip and strength I have been really struggling to open jars and bottles. I have tried other "so called" jar and bottle openers but still have difficulty using them . A few weeks back I started cooking intending to do chicken tikka but being unable to open the jars despite trying 3 different jar openers....I had to do sweet n sour instead as those jar lids weren't superglued to the jars. I read the reviews on the Barbantia Universal Opener and bit the bullet,ordered yesterday and it arrived this morning and hey ho it opened the jars with ease and the fizzy Vimto bottle that my son had left on the side was a doddle to open .I highly recommend this opener
