Simply Superb!
Having initially struggled with taking up the fight with Cell in his father's place, Gohan is ready to face Cell once more after totally demolishing the Cell Jrs after transforming into what appeared to be the level that truly goes beyond Super Saiyan. So the plan Goku had all along finally came to fruition after all and it appears that Gohan is only a few blows and/or blasts away from finishing off Cell. Is it really the end of Cell? Or is it the end of another warrior...? This volume carries on exactly where the previous volume left off; there are more shocks in store, more superb action and more high drama. The Cell Game really hits into top gear here and I really can't emphasise just how outstanding this volume is. I'd go as far to say that out of all 42 volumes of DB (which encompasses what Viz released as 16 volumes of DB and what will be 26 volumes of DBZ when Viz eventually release them all), that this is THE favourite volume of mine. In this one volume we see the characters show costly arrogance, absolute fear, self-sacrifice, unexpected compassion, sorrow, regret, hopelessness and resolution, some of those which goes totally against their normal character (note, I DON'T mean that as a bad thing, it's done wonderfully), and in one case, it totally doesn't, but it doesn't make that certain act any less noble. As I said in the review of the previous volume, that, along with this volume are quintessential volumes, but it is this volume where the poop really hits the fan and has some the best set pieces seen in DB and it's all a fantastic read. This volume not only sees the end of Cell Game, but of the Cell Saga as a whole, including closure on events in Trunks' future timeline too, so it's the end of another long story arc, and a satisfying one at that too.

BRILL!
This comic of dragonball z is great, and i think Akira Toriyama is a really good manga artist. The way he draws the dragonball z characters is brill, and the story to it is great! you get really involed in it.Volume 19 is one of the best ones in the cell saga. It's where after Gohan unleashes his hidden powers and tranforms into ssj2 defeats the cell jrs, and comes face to face with cell. But realising that he would rather blow up the planet and die then lose to gohan he blows himself up. But befour he does Goku teleports him and cell to king kais planet and sacrafises his life. Back on earth gohan is upset over the loss of his father, but then all of a sudden cell returns now the real battle must begin to save the world, gohan against cell who will win? Also i think its really strange how you read it from right to left instead of left to right, but you soon get use to it its really cool. You have got to read it to see how good it is, i would recomend it for any dbz fan. Although i think its great to read i think the tv series is better, because you seem to get more involed in it. Also it depends if you prefer watching it to reading it, but i would buy more of these comics because there great!

Thank god Cell's gone!
Yaaaaaay, the stupid Cell storyline is over!! In the fight for the fate of the world, Cell goes to full power but he’s no match for Son Gohan who’s on some kind of mega-super-hyper-steroids Saiyan level. So Cell, being a sore loser, does something desperate and not one but two main characters die as a result. The world is saved though! I took a week off of Dragon Ball Z thinking that maybe I was overdoing it and that’s why I wasn’t enjoying the series as much as I usually do, but, after this book, I think it’s just the whole Cell/androids storyline that’s been boring me. The tension and excitement with Gohan and Cell’s final battle just wasn’t there. Gohan’s so impossibly powerful that there’s no challenge even though Cell keeps coming back at him. It becomes tedious to read as you know Gohan’s gonna beat him, Akira Toriyama’s just drawing it out to fill up a book. And the way Gohan beats Cell once and for all was totally uninspired. Then – the deaths. First off, the little intro paragraph by Toriyama that prefaces each book? It contains a major spoiler so you know the character that’s going to die about 100 pages before it actually happens – nice one, Toriyama (though the cover is kind of a giveaway too)! But though it’s a major character, death in Dragon Ball is even more of a joke than in superhero comics from Marvel/DC. The instant that character dies, they appear in the afterlife, totally intact, with a halo above their heads. Death is more of a minor inconvenience that any kind of finality! There’s also the coda where Trunks goes back to the future to defeat the androids and Cell, which only further underlines the mess Toriyama made with the whole time-travel trope. If Cell died in the past, what would he be doing in the future? Because there are multiple timelines co-existing at the same time, blah blah, blah, and I can’t even be bothered explaining it again – that part of the story was simply complete and utter NONSENSE! So the big fight is dull and unexciting, the deaths are ineffective in eliciting any sense of sadness because nobody really dies in this series, and the only thing I felt when the book was over was relief that this arc was over and done with! Volume 19 is Toriyama on autopilot, tying up loose ends and setting things up one last time for the final arc: Buu. I’m praying to Shenlong that the series ends on a high and the next six books are much better than the last six have been!
