Q: Can this be used to insulate a shed?

Can’t see why not - I used to insulate my temporary fish pond while it was cold and very flexible

Q: Would this prevent / reflect sun / heat getting to the house if installed externally on south facing patio doors?

I would imagine so, we're using it as loft insulation, but it has a tippled shiny metallic surface each side, it won't look too pretty... but it's a good idea, maybe we'll use it on our windows if we get another unbearable heatwave this year!

it’s not designed for external use, not waterproof. I suppose you could attach to inside of patio doors but would make room dark!!
