Amazing!
This haw by far been the best item I've purchased to trim my dogs nails! She absolutely HATES having her claws clipped so I tried an electric nail file and the buzzing sound and the idea of it near her paws makes her run. I was desperate. Her claws were getting ridiculously long and it looked so uncomfortable. If I didn't find a solution my next step would have been a vet visit with full sedation..that's how much she hates her claws being messed with. So I saw this board on Amazon and decided to give it a try and we are making such progress! We have only had it for 4 days now so we are still working on it but with treats and positive reinforcement she is scratching the board and her claws a slowly getting shorter. I try to do a little board time each day so that they can get to a more manageable length. I am so happy I made this purchase. I was skeptical that my dog would even use it but she does!Definitely making another purchase!!

Not for big dogs
I wanted to love this so bad for the first two nails of their paws this worked great but for back feet and furthest out nails this just didn’t work. The sand paper was more than durable and even laying flat worked but my dogs paws are just too big and they’re not dexterous enough for this. It worked ok for my cats but the paper was too rough so after one or two swipes they were over it. Would absolutely work for a smaller dog or one that’s a bit more coordinated than my two monsters.

Pretty good
Got this for my 2yo dog who thinks that the nail clipper (or grinder) wants to murder her. Overall it's a good product. Two complaints I have is that, especially for a big dog, it takes a lot of "digs" for the nails to get filed down to wanted length, secondly, for a 90 pound dog who has a lot of force, it is difficult holding it up at an angle for them to scratch. I'm not sure if everyone holds it at an angle for their dog, but we both prefer that I hold it, it makes it easier in my opinion.

Does the job!
I bought this for my 80Lbs staffie mix who gets fear aggressive when we try to grind and clip his nails. We have tried drugging, suspending him, muzzling, and multiple restraint techniques. This is the only thing that is efficient, cost efficient, and healthy for him.How I trained him to use it(for the more diet restricted dogs you can also use their meal to reward):First I rewarded any little interaction with the item. Then placed it on the ground and every time he stepped on it I marked with “Yes!” and a treat. I continued to so until he understood what I wanted and I added the command “on”. Then I began to elevate the board at an angle and continued to mark and reward until eventually he understood he was supposed to scratch it. Worked so well that he scratched open his own quick so I do recommend having quic stop on hand or being very careful about how much they scratch to avoid a bloody mess.

My dog wouldn’t use it. Hated the sound
My dog wouldn’t use it even if I tried it with treats, where he jumps up, or on the ground/bed where he loves to “dig” in his bed and blankets. The only this it did was discourage jumping when I came in the room and held it in front of me. He hated the sound and feeling of his claws on both sides.

It works!!!
I was never able to cut my dogs nails. The vet was the only way i could get the nails trimmed and it would cause my dog so much stress. I tried calming treats but that didn’t help. This actually works!! I spent a few hours training my dog to scratch the pad and putting the pad under furniture with a treat worked the best. After a few hour of training both my dogs have nicely trimmed nails. They aren’t perfect but considering this was the first time using it, i feel it worked better than trimming the nails! Much safer and it works fast!!!!

Last about 5 minutes
I was excited that my dog was using the scratch board. But then realize she was able to detached the scratch board. It needs to be glue better.

Works for my dog!!
My dog hates getting his nails trimmed, it has gotten so bad, my vet has yo sedate him to trim them. So we decided to try this board. My 14 year old daughter trained him to scratch on it and it really wears down his nails on his front feet. I use a glass file to even them up and make sure there are no rough edges. For his back feet, I have him lay on his side while my son feeds him freeze dried liver treats, and I hold his foot and scratch it down the board, filled by a big glass file. Voila! No more nail trims!
