Magpul DAKA Grid Gun Case Organizer Foam Insert for Pelican Vault Multi-Purpose Hard Case (Foam Only, Case not Included), V730, Black

Works well in my case and I like the fact I can change arrangements as the need calls for.

This is the organizer to my primary rifle case. The blocks are really easy to move around and it holds my rifle securely with all of its accessories. There is something to know that isn't articulated well in the product information - this organizer secures your equipment through compression. When the organizer is installed into the case, there's a custom piece of foam that goes below the organizer itself, and the original top cover foam from the case is kept. The force applied from the top of the case is what keeps the equipment in place and secure. The top foam of the case will eventually show indents where protrusions on your equipment are, and as long as you're okay with non-pristine top cover foam, this is an incredible solution to rifle case organization. Magpul put a lot of thought into this.

This is a cool product and idea and it solved a problem for me (not wanting to permanently cut the foam in my Pelican V730 case) but overall I am not impressed with the execution. First of all, what I received for $140 was essentially a box of styrofoam. I understand the tooling to create the forms cost them some money upfront, but the grid and blocks are just black colored styrofoam like you would receive in any packaged product. Not confident in the overall longevity. Second, the precut piece of foam that goes behind the grid doesn't have mitered corners like it does in the product images. It is just a straight rectangle and it is about 2" to short for the Pelican V730, so an inch gap on each end beneath the grid. For this much money this thing should be laser cut to fit the case. Third, you can't use the four holes at the corners of the case. The blocks wont fit due to the round corners. This isn't a huge deal for me, but once again it is annoying to pay this much for a box of foam and it not at least function as intended. I contacted Magpul customer service about the foam being too small and not fitting the case, and have not received a response yet. If/when I do I will update the review.

This product is pretty cool. I like that it is modular. I had a pretty tight fit but the rifle still bounced around inside the case on a flight. I even have extra mod peices to tighten it up. There was no damage so that's okay but it definitely got all shifted around and came loose. I still like it better than any other case.

I got this to go with my V730 case. Fits perfectly! Some have complained that there were bulging issues. I had the same issue at first. Simply press in while closing the lid and latching. Keep it shut for 24 hours. And now you are set! I use my case for different guns, so it make sense to use this. If I only had one gun, I'd still use this because I've seen the softer foam deteriorate over time. Someone also stated that you couldn't shut the lid if you have a scope. Well I have a Vortex Diamondback Tactical 6-24x50 mounted on there and have no issues shutting the lid. If you zoom in on the lid of my pic, you can see the impression the scope makes in the foam. Not crushing the scope, just fits nice and snug. Just what you would want. I've transported this gun with scope many times and have not had any issues of scope losing zero. Which was the issue when I use using a soft case.

I hate cutting foam and I change my rifle too often to keep cutting and changing foam. Magpul read my mind and came the daka grid. Works almost as good as cut foam in my opinion and adds the ability to reorganize the case. For the v730 the instructions said to use the provided foam, but it was too small for the case by about an inch. I used the stock foam and it works fine and made a more stable platform for the grid. The grid is also very thin with pins that conact the foam and it causes flexing when adding or moving items and the pins. The grid feels fragile and moved when adding or removing items or pillars. It's a Good idea, with decent execution, but it's too expensive...it's styrofoam...5 stars if the grid part was thicker or if it was less expensive. Still better than foam.

I was really excited to get this product, but honestly it just kind of feels like they are printing money and giving you what is conceptually a cool idea, but not really hitting my expectations. They sell the angled pieces for about 25 bucks which I will probably pick up because I am past the return period. without the angle pieces, the rifles and guns and other parts inside of the pelican case are either loose or super tight. As much as I thought I would reconfigure my case for various occasions, I’m was Probably better off getting a few standard inserts and custom cutting them. Also, for some reason, I thought this would be rubber like material But it’s not. Is the same cheap material as that white foam packaging that comes in most boxes.

The system mostly works as advertised but I don’t think it’s worth the cost of entry over replacement foam. I purchased the exact kit sized for my rifle case but the recommended foam configuration did not work as advertised. I had enough backer foam to try a few options and make it work but it’s still not quite right. I still had to cut out some of the DAKA grid to fit my scope and I feel that this defeats the purpose of the system. I couldn’t recommend this product over getting replacement foam and cutting a new pattern.
