A very cost effective solution to most toilet clogs.
Bought it to clear a personal toliet clog which took minutes and was half the cost of any local plumber's deposit. I'm very confident the 3 foot would have fell short based on where I finally felt tension. In my case the plunger did much more harm than good and was actually the cause of the clog. I was plunging it off and on until it wouldn't even drain and the clog got much worse. Then...I left it at work so my boss could throw it to the mantinence man who proceeded to scratch the hell out of the employee bathroom toliet because he manually tried to lead the end into the bowl rather than pulling the shaft back, which is basically what every single review saying it scratched their toliet more than likely did. That said, he tried with a 3 foot wally-world special before that and it did nothing. Eventually this thing coughed up a years worth of brown towels where the sign said "don't flush brown towels". See... people cannot follow directions. Even simple ones. Boss gave me over half the cost I spent on the thing because I saved him money too. Took it to mother's house and fixed another one there. In a few months this thing paid for itself a few times over.It won't hurt anything if you use it right, because selling something that damages toliets rather than repairing them makes zero sense. It feels like it's built to last and even if you used it once successfully, it's cheaper than any plumber at least in my area and I'd think even more so in bigger places. If you had "friend prices" you would'nt be shopping for this thing, right? Go for the 6 footer and throw the plunger away.

Worked well for us.
It was pretty expensive, but it cleared a clog that other tools and products wouldn’t. I guess you get what you pay for. It was easy to use and went further down than most other toilet snakes on the market.

A Durable And Extremely Effective Toilet Auger
The Ridgid 59802 six-foot toilet auger is a professional grade plumbing implement that can be used by homeowners with a little care. After a toilet didn't appear to flush completely I suspected there was a partial blockage. Not being a plumber and after having attempted to use a plunger with no change I decided to buy this toilet auger to see if I could correct the problem myself without calling a professional. I was honestly not sure this is what I needed as the toilet partially flushed and would refill with clear water.I'll skip ahead to the victory. After getting everything set, it took about two minutes to clear the blockage which appeared to largely be toilet paper. So kudos to the product, it definitely does the job. Having said that I gave it four rather than five stars mostly because the directions are poor. I read them several times before starting, and they were oddly fragmented and ordered with a discussion of using a cordless drill as an attachment right in the middle of the relevant information. Also the diagrams are very small and very unclear. The directions referenced a button to make the cable extend from three to six feet and it is not labeled on the device and is not depicted on the drawing; it just kind of points to the area where it is. I am so glad I took my time to get familiar with this thing before starting the job. The button is only exposed when you pull the base of the handle with crank attachment out of the sleeve holding it; it's then exposed on the side. Caution: this thing is very unwieldy when extended to the full six feet! Try it on the three foot length before seeing if you need to go further (I didn't).A couple of tips that make sense once you've done it are in order. First, read the directions and understand them. Get everything set aside in the bathroom with a plastic garbage bag handy. You'll want to be wearing disposable gloves for all of this. Have paper towels on hand. It's very important to have the entire cable retracted with just the tip showing (this model has a drop head which is good at pulling stuff out with it) and then gently put in into the toilet getting the orange vinyl sleeve nestled into the toilet drain. If you let the metal cable come in contact with the toilet it can scratch. I was very deliberate and had no scratching issues. Follow the directions to progressively insert the cable and twist: it may encounter resistance. I found the easiest part was actually unclogging the toilet, which took about a minute or two. Once you think you're done, withdraw the cable into the auger fully before pulling it out. Flush the toilet a few times to make sure it's really clear. Then the nightmare starts. You have to get this thing out of the toilet to someplace where you can clean it, and if you haven't thought this through, the ensuing mess is not going to be enjoyable. Having never done this before, I thought about it before I started and my method worked well. I removed the auger with one hand while I held open the trash bag with another. I put the...soiled...end of the auger in the garbage bag and transported it outside where I used a high powered hose nozzle and disinfectant to clean it. I then let it dry overnight. The Ridgid 59802 is a very effective tool that works great. I have no problems recommending it. Just mess around with it and read the instructions while it's clean and dry, because once the clog is cleared, the worst part of the job is upon you. If you have a plan you'll do just fine.

Very good for my toilet
I have two toilets and one of them was acting like it could backup . I found a small snake to use , it did but was not long enough . Then it almost backed up one more time .I came here looking for one that is like what we use at work . This one came up , I read all reviews and purchased this . One week later just as I’m about to go to work , the toilet did it again . I got this and used it and left for work . I talked to hubby later in the day and he said the toilet is flushing better and sounds strong going down.I followed the instructions and it is easy . My only issue was after taking it out , where to place it . I had grabbed a large trash bag to set it in until after work and put that in my garage . After rinsing this off and trying to figure the best way yo store this I came up with my best set up , I have this in a tote with no lid and old newspapers in the bottom of the tote . At work we have them in a slip sink , I don’t have that .The price might scare you , but if you want something to work good , this is it . I hope to never need a second one , but if someone needs one I’ll recommend this .

No experience required, perfect tool for stubborn clogs
I have plumbing that gets stopped up - especially my commode. Recently I had a clog that I worked on for 2 days with no luck. I tried all the other tools available, plus commercial grade chemicals that disintegrate organic matter instantly. Still no luck. I finally broke down and purchased the tool my plumber used last time he came out, charged me $350 for 5 minute job.I took the new tool out of the box (carefully read the instructions!!) used it with ease and the clog was instantly cleared. I heard the commode laughing - bub bub bub. It saved and will save me a ton of money. I am very happy with this purchase and recommend it!

Does the job
I purchased a auger from my local hardware store to save money.. I struggled with the device to try to unclog my old toilet. I finally broke down and purchased this professional auger and it cleared it like a hot knife through butter!!! I only have one bathroom and I sure sleep better knowing this tool is there if I need it.. I wish I purchased it first!
