Better Brushcutter than Strimmer with 1.6 mm
I have a large range of Ryobi garden tools so battery compatibility key for me. Old petrol twin strimmer line needed replacing. Its light and yes whilst instructions could be better it didnt take long to get it assembled. They do show which way to screw and bolt if you read them carefully. The strimmer spool is definitely not well explained and tells you to align something that isn't obvious. Basically push it twist about 5mm to engage some lugs into position. It should spring back once securing nut is in play. However having enjoyed a strimmer with 3mm diameter cutting cable the 1.6mm on this is no comparison and wont handle anything significant certainly not even small nettles. How Ryobi think that such a substantial tool can be so useless at 1.6mm is rediculous. 2.5mm fits nicely onto the spool and transforms it completely. Oregon techni 280 in this case. It says to simply buy a new spool of strimmer wire when empty which is not only rediculous waste you cannot find it on Amazon rather just the complete replacement head. I sense I will manage to get new cable onto it when the time comes. Dont buy the add on plastic bladed edger offered as a package as it is not compatible with this tool.

Very robust and comfortable to use
Does a good job and very comfortable to use with the straps doesn't put much strain on your back like other machines. The battery lasts longer than on the mower that shares it and so you can finish most tasks in one go. The only complaint is for the price the instructions are poor, as although it gives you a list of parts it doesn't tell you what they do or where they go. And doesn't inform you that the bolt that holds the blade on goes on anti clockwise not clockwise as normally

DEATH to weeds
Great fun and easy to use, just be carful of items that the weeds have grown over… go a few sparks from old iron bar… and a bit of a bounce.. but actually that’s where this maybe safer than the bigger ones as it is still fully controllable

A great tool
Brush cutters are not the easiest but this one replaced my old petrol one. It is noticeably lighter and does the job great. Like all brush cutters, it takes a little practice to get the best cuts but you realise quickly that this Ryobi machine is match for the petrol alternatives. I bought this as a bare tool as I have batteries for the range. With two 5 batteries, I keep going for an hour at full tilt, I would recommend the larger batteries for good clearance. Certainly a good value win for me and would recommend

Expensive toy pretending to be a tool
This is seriously under powered. In strimmer mode it struggles with cutting long grass. Every other strimmer I've used has reached working speed almost instantly, but this tool takes a slow wind up to get to cutting speed, then struggles to stay there. The harness is very cheap & nasty, the straps slip through with almost no pressure. Nothing feels like it is durable. I had planned on standardising on Ryobi's tools and battery system, but after this tool I'm not buying another over priced Ryobi toy again.

Good but not perfect
This brush cutter only runs for about 12 to 16 mins with my existing 4ah battery which isn’t very convenient. I’m loathed to buy another battery but I’ll have to in order to get a better usable time. The blade is ok for undergrowth but rubbish for grass. The line itself doesn’t extend with bump feed and I find myself having to extend it manually as required. It’s ok but not outstanding and I’m going to have to buy a more powerful petrol version as I need to cut for an hour or so at a time.

Very good brush cutter, poor battery life
Excellent brush cutter, slices through thick grass with relative ease. However, when used with my 4.0 Ryobi battery, I only got 16 minutes of use before it was completely flat. Fine if you have a fairly small area or are happy to change batteries multiple times to get the job done.

SMidigt format och bra med standard batteri från Ryobi. Däremot är den mycket klenare i motorn än vad jag trodde den skulle vara, efter att ha läst recesioner.

Buyer be aware of the fact that Ryobi USA does not recognize this model as it is suppose to be a Euro only. In 4 months it started to stop after a few minutes of running and I may have to replace it soon. Now Ryobi has always had a good reliable product but this has left a bad taste in my mouth.

It works well enough on brush and thicker weeds. Being an 18V tool, it's not really very powerful and will struggle with saplings and thicker, woody stems. If you're already invested in One+ tools and batteries, it's not a bad choice for lighter jobs.
