Invaluable tool, quit guessing with your grow lights and outdoor sun/shade areas!
Love love love! This is such a terrific tool and works with no fuss, easy to read. On of my best purchases for my plants.

Nifty little PAR meter
Quite easy to use, settles on a reading quickly, and gives consistent readings with little noise. For the price, this is great. I don't have another PAR meter to compare it to, but based on readings I've taken from other lights that I have quantified, this seems to be pretty close to the $500 meter I rented a while back. One feature that I wish that they'd incorporated would be the ability to use it as a true daylight exposure meter, where you leave it in one place throughout the light cycle and it provides the DLI for that exposure time. Right now the app does have a DLI calculator, which certainly is nice for situations where light is constant, but that is based on the instantaneous reading and the number of hours you enter into the calculator. If this functionality was added to the app, this would be a really exceptional piece of kit.

Works with caveats
Here's the deal - I found this very useful both indoors and out. It helped me map my greenhouse lighting and the yard for intensity, and was superior to 'phone apps' in this regard. There is a caveat - sunlight intensity is bang-on, within 5% vs weather station predictions. However, indoors under full spectrum grow lights with deep red, or UV, or higher frequency blue tones - this would UNDER estimate PAR by 20-40%. I believe this is due to several factors: even high quality LED light is less even spectrum than sunlight, and whatever equation is used by the sensor doesn't account for uneven sensitivity to spikey spectrums; I don't believe this meter accurately measures above 650nm or below 450nm - no ePAR here; the geometry of the lights, while apparently cosine corrected under some fixed function by the meter, the diffusion panel is not perfect, and can over or under estimate when point sources are used, even if they are distant. This reduces linearity. If you really want accurate measurements under LED, I recommend taking several heights as well, and generating your own inverse square function to characterize your light cone. The cost is hard to beat, and the results are highly reproducible (precise) even if some adjustment is required for accuracy per situation. I would take several close readings in a small area (10" circle) and average them for a truer report. The property angle for best accuracy is directly vertical. If the lights are LED, especially broad spectrum, watch your plants for signals that PAR is higher than estimated - depending on your spectrum, they may be getting half again the photons this suggests. Still, I found this a useful tool, and will continue to use. Phone connection is dead simple and stable. Mapping feature is useful. Outdoors it is directly reliable. I would recommend to the vendor that they include selection of light source modes and provide more accurate models based on the type of lighting being measured, rather than calibrate to solar spectrum only, as this appears to do.

Easy to use
Works great very simple to use. As far as I know, it’s reading what it’s supposed to. I have nothing to double check it with, but I know where it’s at so when I change the light setting, I know exactly how much I’m going up or down on intensity. easy to hook up to your cell phone very convenient I would recommend

Works well and accurate
This seems to work well! I compared this with the readings from an apogee par meter and it was pretty spot on.

Handy tool
Really handy tool. Price is OK for what you get but it is definitely a handy tool if you are a serious gardener

Worth every penny
Awesome. Easy to use.

Good product, unsure about accuracy
good product for giving me an idea of where my ppfd is at, i didn’t wanna spend 400$ on an abvee sensor so i went with this. I can’t vouch for the accuracy of the product because i don’t have a second sensor to verify the numbers with. Very Easy set up and overall good product in my opinion.

The meter seems to work well enough for measuring light intensity, however they advertise that it will read lighting inside an aquarium. They even sell a more expensive version for this exact purpose. The item is exactly the same as the cheaper version, but to make it “waterproof” they send it with a heavy duty waterproof bag. This would have been fine if it actually did work, however once it is submerged in the aquarium inside the bag, the signal is lost and no readings are visible… I tried multiple different ways and the deepest I could get it to connect to the phone was ~6 inches deep… not exactly what I had hoped for. Just beware that this unit will read lighting levels, however not underwater if this is the specific reason you are purchasing it for. This was my intention and likely will need to be returned shortly.
