The Girl From The Naked Eye [DVD]

A decent movie to watch. It is a bit of mixed genres, the style is film noir style narration, but the action is all martial arts with a bit of gun play. This mix puts together a very entertaining movie. The movie moves back and forth between the present and a couple of months earlier till the events catch up.Jake (Jason Yee) was a is a bad@$$ gang enforcer with a gambolling problem. This has landed him in heavy debt to a mobster. Forced to take a job as a driver/enforcer for the local strip club Simon (Ron Yuan), his friend and local gangster/pimp. Jake is paid to drive the girls to client's houses, and bring them back safe and paid. All the girls know Jake as the dependable guy; the clients learn he is the guy you don't want to mess with. Everything is routine until Jake starts driving around a new girl Sandy (Samantha Streets). Forming a deep connection with her Jake starts to dream of a life he never though he would ever have. That is till Sandy is killed. Now Jake will stop at nothing to find and extract his revenge on her killer. This movie has a good story, good action set in the seedy world of gangsters, pimps and prostitutes.

There isnt much about this film that is new or exciting, it pretty much riffs on everything from sin city to old boy.Its a dark gloomy film with the main character providing a suitably smooth voice over to narrate the story in between the bouts of violence and gunplay.The story is really just a shadow of numerous films, reminicent of the doomed love theme present in the crow, a bit of the thriller/one man army aspect from taken and the loner on the fringes of society from old boy.I cant say that I liked the direction, its at times too stylised and especially during the fight scenes it lacks the power to drag you into the fray.It could have been a decent if forgettable film but instead its just forgettable

I gave this film 3 stars as it was okay for an evenings entertainment. It was full of action, which I like. The acting was okay and the fight scenes were quite good. I don't know that I would watch it again, but my memory is not too good so I could probably watch it again in a years time and not remember what happened in it. I could recommend it to others who like fast moving, action packed films with plenty of fight scenes.

There's a lot to like about the action film "The Girl From the Naked Eye," especially some crisp martial arts fight sequences and the subtle sense of humor that surfaces now and then.

This film could have been so much better. The action sequences are good and the plot predictable, which you wouldn't mind if the acting ballanced it out. Also, the style it is shot in is trying to be arty and feel like Sin City, but it just isn't pulling it off.

rubbish. don't waste your good money.total waste of time. no story, no acting.plain crap.not much to say really.just do not spend you hard earned money on this...
