Goobay 60928 Speaker Switch Box, Black

I bought this because I use an old Rotel audio amp with no output protection and I hated the speakers making that popping noise when I switched it on and know from experience that if there is a fault on the amp it can blow the speakers and I love my B&W 601's and definitely do not want to kill them. This switch box works a treat. I repaired an old Sony amp recently and the owner wanted to hear the difference in amplifiers through the same speakers, so I wired this box with an input from the amp to the speaker output and another amp to another input and the speakers to an output (this is not what the box was sold to do but it does work arse about face). The box is well constructed of metal and along with other reviewers I agree that the terminals are small and close together. For what I wanted it for exceeds my needs and I got it at good price, highly recommended.

Great piece of kit, well priced being successfully used to operate outdoor speakers each side of our garden which has meant lower volume needed and less annoyance possibility for neighbours. Once in a waterproof box they are ideal. Gave 4 stars because nothing outstanding but it is a great item where you have a need. Only caution would be I don't use them with any real need to worry about quality as long as the sound is ok, which it is, as used for outdoor garden speakers.

I've had one of these for almost a year (I have a similar design from another manufacturer from decades ago, which still works fine). I keep getting cutting out on one set of outputs. Assumed it was my poor connections of speaker wire. But no. Wondered if there was a loose connection inside, but no the soldering seems okay. But one of the switch units seems to have an internal fault. You can temporarily change volume/loose connection/regain connection by gently pressing on the rocker switch - suggesting there is an internal connection issue. This is not an expensive item, but considering how simple it is they should be able to get decent components for this pricing. Looking at other reviews here, I was not simply unlucky in getting an exceptional faulty unit.

Tried two of these units as I thought the first might be faulty. When switching a speaker output on, one channel can occasionally (often) not switch on. Rocking the switch back and forth can then convince it to come on, but that's far from ideal. Clearly a physical defect in the manufacturing, rather than loose cabling. Really- just pay a bit extra for a more robust unit.

Just what i wanted. I can now control the ceiling speakers in my kitchen and dining room, all on or just one or the other rooms.

Nice little unit which switches well. The only issue is there is no open circuit protection to stop the amp from blowing up due to no load when the speakers are both switched off.

Very good price. Ground connection between left and right speakers is common. Can not be used with bridge coupled class D amps. No problem for me. I just separated the grounds between left and right channel by removing the pcb and using wires.

I've had absolutely no problems with this thing, working as advertised since day one, very reliably. But other reviewers seem to not have had the same luck. It might be worth giving them a read.
