My precious childhood memories are now digitally available for my children + grandchildren to see.
I've wanted to digitise my late father's cine films from 1960s/70s for many years but it's always been too expensive to have it done professionally. This fabulous little machine has made it possible for my husband and I to do it ourselves and I'm thrilled with the results. I now have hours of old family holidays, days out and weddings to share with my extended family. I can only repeat what others have already said in reviews. Wolverine is displayed in the power up screen (possibly indicating a good quality machine but old model). Loading the film is a little fiddly and it's helpful to have a torch or light to show where to thread the film. Occasionally films get stuck but for me it was only when the film had been spliced badly (too thick to go through the feed gate). Be patient as the digitising takes time (we found a 3 min film took about 25 mins). We also found it best to run it in the room we were sitting in case it did get stuck (it's very light so easy to move from room to room). The quality of my 50/60 year old films look better on a phone than a larger screen. All in all I'm delighted with this little machine + would willingly recommend it to others.

My purchase started providing poor results very quickly. Explanation provided.
The first couple of movies went smoothly. Soon it started to give unwatchable results. Image jumping so badly. Realised film going through too quickly. As these old films get loose on the reel I rewind onto empty reel then rewind back. An improvement but not enough. In order to get decent file I have to apply tension to main reel by lightly placing finger on it which causes it to record correctly at 2 frames a second. Working on other movie and music delayed using it so too late to return. Impractical sadly.

It really works
Absolutely brilliant so far. Have digitised a few hours of 8 mm film and am very pleased with the results considering my films are over 50 years old. Quite easy to use, it sometimes makes a disconcerting noise but this does not seem to affect the operation. Downloading the results is easy.ì

Fantastic machine
This is a brilliant piece of kit. Easy to set up and use straight out of the box, with incredibly good results. I had a large collection of 8mm films in conditions ranging from good to severely damaged. Although the machine can't do anything about the damage, it produces the best possible quality. One reel (80 years old) was extremely brittle and curled up at the sides, but I still managed to capture usable footage. It is advisable to clean your films as best you can before scanning. Get advice from someone like The Cine Film Factory (on YouTube). Some films may be beyond cleaning so unless you seek professional help, you have to use what you've got.Scanning is very slow because it's frame by frame (hence the good quality). You need to keep an eye on it in case of frame slippage, as noted in other reviews. However, this tends only to happen when there are joins in the film. Otherwise it holds the frame well. Use the 'frame adjust" feature before recording, including the "W axis" which zooms in slightly, thereby reducing risk of slippage.

I returned mine
There are not many suppliers of Digital conversion from super/standard 8 film. and less so that can handle 8" spools. I was delighted when I found this online as a deal. When the device arrived it looked like it had been opened before but when I went to plug it in, it came up with a message saying plug in the power supply. odd. How can the device come live with power plugged in and then say plug in the power. Anyway eventually I got it to work for a short while. When I did it did not scan in accurately, the image kept jumping. within an hour the device gave up and came back requesting me to apply power! I returned it and had no option but to get my money back. I would have loved to get a replacement device. I now have to resort to scanning in my Videos using a 8mm projector and scanning the output into a camera.

Good but no (rare size) SD card included and will NOT take 9" reels as advertised.
Unfortunately this does not come with an SD card as advertised, not a huge issue BUT it will only take a 128Gb card and these are thin on the ground now. I cannot see them changing the mainboard to take a larger card, so will become redundant faster than cine film did! Worked for a while OK, but had to be returned as it could not take the 9" reels as advertised either. Looking at the packaging, it is more a seller falsely selling than the item, but be aware of its lmitiations.
