Bean: The Ultimate Disaster Movie [Blu-ray]

Mr Bean at his BEST!
'Bean' is one of my favourite films! If I am ever feeling low I watch Bean and it completely cheers me up. I am a massive Mr Bean fan and this film is just classic Mr Bean the whole way through. I find myself constantly laughing through-out the film and I must of watched it 100+!The film centres on Mr Bean being sent to America to represent the Royal National Gallery at the presentation of the painting Whistler's Mother. Everything goes horrendously wrong 'Bean' style and you are left with your hands covering your eyes not daring to look! It is cast so well and all the main characters are incredibly funny and very likeable. It wouldn't be a Mr Bean film though if it wasn't also filled with endearment, determination and love and this film has all of those qualities. Rowan Atkinson is amazing as always when he plays Mr Bean but I must say that 'Bean' is a stand out performance and truly shows who Mr Bean really is.

Bean at his stupidly funny best!
I cannot remember when I first watched this movie, but first viewing I thought it was brilliant. Bean (Rowan Atkinson's) acting was top class throughout the whole movie and what a very lucky man he is to play a hilarious character, Mr. Bean. I then taped this from the television but because I no longer use my video player anymore and I now own a ps3 (which plays DVD's) I wanted a DVD release of this title. I then went looking for this everywhere but I couldn't find it! The closest I came was to seeing it second hand in a boxset along with his second movie Mr. Beans Holiday (which i already have) so there was only one solution - Buy it online!I am so glad I have succesfully done so because this movie is incredibly funny and is five times funnier and better than his second film 'Mr. Bean's Holiday'. Anybody who thinks his second movie is better than this must seriously be gone in the head! This is yet again another film i would class as an under-rated movie, and if you haven't seen it, its a definete must watch!

Bean - the master of disaster
Bean "The Ultimate Disaster Movie" has had plenty of reviews so little more can be said about this Rowan Atkinson masterpiece. It's worth buying (even if you have seen it before) just to lift your spirits after a hard day at work. If you think life is bad for you at the moment, take a look at Mr Bean's lot - certainly it's not a happy one, but he keeps smiling despite every conceivable obstacle being thrown at him and endless bad luck drops him in it from a great height on numerous occasions. It is quite simply brilliant. When you get immersed into his world, it makes you realise that things in your life can't be really that bad. Anything that can be thrown at you will not stick for ever. Life is worth living, as Mr Bean shows. From adversity rises optimism for a better future. In my opinion, this is a 'feel good factor' film par excelence and I highly recommend it for the whole family.

US version on Amazon Video with an extra scene
As I said in the headline this version available for streaming has the US version in which Bean gets the turkey stuck on his head in a reference to 'Merry Christmas Mr. Bean'. According to Rowan Atkinson the difference is because of the very different reactions from the American and European audience in the test screenings. However I decided to keep the 2007 DVD release because it was one of the first films I bought on DVD after getting a player for them and I am used to the UK cut which features an alternate scene, to explain the film cutting to Bean and David shoving the turkey into the microwave immediately after they look in the fridge, reshot in the absence of Bean literally 'getting the turkey on' and I am used to it. I think the Blu-Ray release in the UK also has the original European cut (I did rent it on Lovefilm before it was discontinued).

Bean-o
Usually I don't watch Mr. Bean movies as they are too ridiculous and slapstick. This one, though, is an exception. There is a plausible plot, good characterisation and a humane side shown of Mr. Bean. There is more of an effort at genuine comedy, rather than the usual inane, juvenile stuff. The other characters are well played, too. The movie has good pace, avoiding the repetitious nature of many other. Altogether, an enjoyable movie, with an unusual pathos at the end for Bean movies.

Bean's 1st Filmic outing
I was extremely happy to locate the first Bean as it seems to have become rather rare. I am familiar with the sequel and glad to have seen the original. So sad that director Mel Smith is no longer with us.Very good service to boot.
