Yes, the grey Button on the picture is the door release button

Q: is this compatible with an old Targha system?

Yes, it is a very simple thing, just connect the wires. Only issue is working out which wires. Any electrician could do this, or any telephone engineer. You just need a multimeter in fact. Age of system makes no difference. Hope this helps.

I can’t give you a definitive answer but this may help? This is a 6 wire handset. I purchased it to replace a 4 wire handset, as the advert states Universal. It wasn’t a suitable replacement for me but maybe what you are looking for. I received a swift refund after returning it.
