Excellent primer for people like us who are interested in art but don’t know much. Well written, nicely presented with great reproductions of the art works on good quality paper.

I love her books. Straight to the point, always very interesting.

Very beautifully written, eases you into art , love how it’s sectioned in to parts , material selected very carefully. Iam enjoying alot it to be honest . Highly recommend

The first thing I noticed was that what looked like a dust cover, wasn't. The cover seems to be card which is printed to look like a dust cover, featuring the Mona Lisa and the title, and inside the front leaf is plain blue paper. The front does not detach from the book. However, the whole book has an attractive layout, with coloured photos throughout, and quite easy to find information in byte sized chunks. There are separate pages for Key Movements, Works, Themes and Techniques, which can be cross referenced, and other (art) works which are not pictured are named if you wanted to research a couple more of interest. The years are clearly shown too.This is a beautiful, well thought out book, except for one thing. The size is approximately A5, and I do find that the writing for me is a bit small, and would benefit from using a lamp or good window light to read it. But all in all, it's very good.

Great little guide, kinda passionate yet accessible content about old masters and big concepts. Handy reference to dip into for adults and kids.

Purchased for my daughter, who is an artist, and she's really impressed with it. Offers a good basic background of art history for quick reference.

Thoroughly enjoyed picking out particular time frames that interest me giving "layman's" information.

Excellent introduction to the subject. A good quality book, tightly bound, and well illustrated.
