Great addition to pocket, everyday sketching kit. I’ve had no problem with its functionality and it’s comfortable to use, not being too bulky in the hand. I might like to swop out some of the colours so hope there are more colours to choose from.

Classic Pentel quality. Feels good in the hand, writes cleanly, and the included leads are decent. Nothing flashy, just a well made tool that does exactly what you want.

I discovered this product browsing around for interesting art supplies. Although the purpose of the Multi-8 is for office use, I wanted to see its potential as a tool for sketching. There is a similar product like this that holds larger crayon leads. The difference here is that this holds 2mm coloured leads, making this more portable to use. It also has a fancy mechanism for changing the leads. The coloured leads themselves are Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Cyan, Blue, Pink and Brown, and they lay down quite well. Cyan and Pink are labelled ‘Diazo Non-Copy’ and ‘PPC Non-Copy’ on the lead holder, presumably for office purposes, but I think they act the same way as the other leads. The Multi-8 works like a clutch pencil (holding a button down to let a lead piece out by gravity), so you do have to watch your coloured leads don’t fall out. That being said, they are replaceable, and seeing the leads are 2mm, it made me wonder about how modular the Multi-8 lead holder could be with other 2mm lead brands (especially for a budding artist like myself!). So far I’ve tested a Koh-I-Noor coloured lead I’ve had lying around, and the clutch holds it down well, though you will have to snap it to size so it can fit in the Multi-8’s rotating chamber when not in use. For sketching purposes, it’s possible to rearrange the order of the leads so that the colours are closely sorted in rainbow order. This allows me to instinctively go to the colour I need without having to jump around the original assortment. I’ve use this product a couple of times out and about and it still holds up. The Multi-8 is a bit pricy, but it also comes with replacement coloured leads and a sharpener. Because the Multi-8 is made by Pentel (renowned like other Japanese companies for its meticulous stationary design), you can’t go wrong with the cost. Note to Amazon: Although the product arrived with the spares slightly loose out of place, everything was all intact!

This is one of my favourite mechanical pencils. It's not too heavy to hold for long periods. The coloured leads are smooth and creamy, which makes drawing with them a real pleasure. The colours are vibrant and all work well together. Yes, the yellow is quite light on white paper, but that's to be expected. A little care is needed when switching colours round, ensuring that the lead has properly returned into the pen before rotating the clip to select your next colour. There's enough resistance that you shouldn't break the lead though. Overall this is a really great product. I bought the set with a complete set of 2 spares each of all 8 colours. I think this would be enough to last for quite a while. You can use other 2mm leads, but you will need to cut them down to the right length first. Great for highlighting text in books, bullet journalling and under drawings/sketches. I love the Non Copy Blue for sketching.

Such a slim instrument given it has 8 different coloured cores. Easy to use, good quality colours - not scratchy or dry. Also found that on most papers, the colours can be erased with a standard eraser. Excellent.

Amazing for work and doodles.

I had used one of these pens for about 15 months, purchased in Japan, and when some "Tea Leaf" stole mine from my briefcase I thought I would not be able to get a replacement. But to my joy Amazon had it, and I had this new one in my possession in three days from losing my old one. Very happy with the service and the quality of my replacement.

Geniale Idee von Pentel. Wenn man sich mit der Bedienung auseinandergesetzt hat funktioniert das tadellos. Die Originalminen sind etwas teuer aber man kann halbe von anderen Herstellern verwenden, das klappt ganz gut
