Excellent Iron.. Very little to not like about it.
I am over all very pleased with this iron. My old, very cherished, late 50's Presto Iron developed a major problem and blew a hole in the ironing board as the cord went POW!!! TG I wasn't in the room when that happened, or much less holding on to it... You know? Anyway.. The hunt began, as lots has chanegd over the years. I love the retractable cord and the large flat base. This makes it much more stable when you stand the iron up on the ironing board, or off side to cool or soemthing. I used starch during the first ironing and didn't even have to clean the soleplate; absolutely nothing stuck or eneded cleaning. I am glad they had an almost periwinkle blue.. purple on the blue side is my favorite. The iron is of course lighter than my original, so a bit more pressure was needed to iron mm new curtains before hanging.. This iron is also from the second school of thought behind steam irons, where it does more of a shot of steam with the secondary spray option, instead of the constant steam to which I have been accustomed these last 30 years.. This is just fine, and is actually more economical. The iron gets hot almost prestissimo quickly, so there is verey little wait time. I love the special finish the soleplate --it just moves so easily over the fabric. The Iron itself has only a 1 year warranty, but the soleplate has a 10 year warranty on the finish.. This was a major selling point for me. My only rteal complaint is that I like a heavier iron.. so.. 8.5 out of 10 to y'all.

Good iron
Good price. Still works. I like the retractable chord.

Easy ironing!
Already wrote a review so not sure why this item is still showing. Anyway, great iron! Exactly what I wanted and need. Easy to use, and does a great job.

Solid iron. Does what it’s designed to do.
Easy to use and very effective. Sole complaint is it is a little clunky, although not heavy.

LOVE this iron. LOVE it.
I love this iron. I have a seamstress/embroidery business. I am ironing all the time, multiple times a day. Because I work with a lot of embroidered items, I am constantly destroying irons with stabilizer, spray glue residue, glitter, sequins, etc. I need an iron that is*reliable and dependable with heavy use*has a reasonable shut off system (don't want it shutting off every 90 seconds, but I don't want it sitting there for 15 minutes either, you know?)*self-cleaning (it helps keep stuff from building up and preserves the life of the iron -- learned this one the hard way when I tried to cheap out and just get a basic iron)*gets warm really fast*has a reliable high -- and a reliable low -- temperature setting*has great steam output*doesn't weigh a ton.No small order, right? This iron is that iron.I noted that a few people complained that retractable cord irons tend to break the retractor. I didn't care about this, if it broke, fine, if it didn't, fine, so I disregarded that complaint when comparing them. Since receiving the iron I have noticed no issues with the cord retraction system.Another complaint I noted was that the base of the iron (where the cord retracts into) is tall and makes the iron overly cumbersome. I'm not gonna lie, it IS a bit bulky. You get used to it in about 37 seconds. It's no biggie at all. If the iron was heavier because of it, that might be an issue, but I have no complaints about the weight of the iron. It weighs less that either of my last three irons and none of them had retractable cords so I don't think it's making any appreciable difference! The iron has a lightning fast response time, it heats up quickly and evenly. When you need to reduce the temperature, it responds quickly as well, the temperature drops more quickly than my last iron. The cord is plenty long enough for my needs. The shut off works great and the blinking light tells me it's shut off and not putting out heat, so I like that. All in all, I could not be happier with this iron and would definitely buy again.

Nice iron. I recommend it.
I bought this to replace an iron that had started rusting and marking up clothes. that one cost twice as much as this one. I like this one very much. Thanks to the person who made the video demonstrating one that she's had for years. It convinced me to try this one.

Better than my previous iron
My previous Hamilton Beach iron, which is still working and in rotation with these new ones (of which I bought two), had been my favorite for years...until now. So hard to tell from reviews and product description if something new will replace a favorite which breaks but glad I took a chance on these.Very pleased to say that I find these Hamilton Beach irons better than my old ones. Several reasons for that. Despite some reviews complaining of the weight of these, I actually found them to be slightly lighter than my others, yet still with enough heft to press clothes without undo effort. I have arthritis in several fingers so that was most welcome. These irons have slightly more ironing surface and more steam holes which probably explains why clothes are pressed well without additional weight. Being less weighty means that I can iron a little faster without loss of pressing quality. Also appreciate that the water reservoir (I use steam virtually every time I iron) is a lighter color so I can see the water level better. My other ones are much darker. Usually have to hold them up to the light to see the level.I have noticed that the water reservoir needs to be filled more frequently but that is probably because of the additional steam holes. That is an acceptable trade-off for me and only a comment, not a complaint.

Powerful but Leaky
Steam is powerful! Love the retractable cord, but it leaks a lot when you use the burst of steam feature. i use this for work shirts, but I would be reluctant to use this iron on anything expensive, as I'm afraid it would stain a delicate garment.
