First of all, I want to say that these leggings are extremely soft for being 100% wool, and do seem to be fairly well-made for the cheap price, I say cheap in comparison to other brands. However, $60 for a pair of leggings is not exactly cheap, even if you’re getting them only because they are wool. Anyway, I think it’s extremely generous that they give you a pair of socks, in each order, and, like I said, they seem to be well-made, and I so much appreciate the fun colors, when it’s very difficult to find bright colors in women’s Thermal wear. That is the only reason I purchased these, because I didn’t want black or gray. All that being said, I’m really sad that I won’t be able to keep these, as they seem to be made for either a man with no butt, or a very specific body type of woman, that is not curvy. I’m not sure if you can see where my belly button is in my mirror because the mirror is antiqued, but let’s just say this base layer is so low rise that it might even make Britney Spears blush. I’m not even going to show you the back, as I am pretty sure my butt crack is showing. The only way I could get these to cover, the areas that need to be covered, was to pull them up to the point that I had an extremely uncomfortable wedgy. I did notice that a lot of the photos of these garments do have them pulled up very high to the point that the poor woman has a camel toe or wedgy. Anyway, these are super great leggings for camping, but if you plan to be bending over at all, they are not going to be comfortable if you have any amount of butt or hips. I even sized up just in case that was the problem, and it didn’t help, the pants just got wider, not taller. In the photo, I am wearing a XL. It almost feels like the front and the back are cut out exactly the same, there’s absolutely no difference when I hold them up, and when I put them on the first time, I thought I had put them on backwards because they felt so odd, not having a place for my butt, and being a little bit baggy in the front. I’m super bummed, I wish I had the right body type for these.

I get cold easily and am trying to gradually replace as many of the synthetics in my wardrobe as I can with clothes made of natural materials. So when I saw these leggings while doing my Black Friday shopping, I gave in to temptation and bought four pair - two heavyweight and one each in medium and lightweight. Yes, they're in different colors (black, grey, and blue). What I LOVE: They're cozy soft, like a high-quality fine-knit (superfine) merino wool sweater. They aren't itchy at all, and they breathe like they're not even there. The heavyweight ones are sufficient for the freezing temperatures at my sister's place in the mountains without being too warm for the slightly-warmer temperatures at my parents' place. They all look great, sleek and streamlined without the plastic sheen of synthetics. If you do medieval reenactment, like I do, they'll work perfectly for it too, as long as you can cover or ignore the company logos at the hip and left ankle. The free pair of socks that come with them are a basic grey but feel almost pillow-soft. What could be improved: I got XXL, because my measurements are borderline between there and XL for the company's size guide (L/10-12 in normal store sizes). The leggings are a little looser than they need to be, though the nice thing about wool knits is that you can't tell they're big unless they're way too big. I'll probably get XL for my next order, but only because I like the waist to feel a bit more snug than these are. (I can add a drawstring to fix that.) There's a seam about 3" above the ankle that I wish were slightly less visible, though it's not enough to make me look for a different style. An option with pockets would have been nice, even though it would mean losing the seamless line along the outer leg. But these minor issues don't even add up to any significant dissatisfaction. I'm going to be living in them all winter long and will at least be able to wear the lightweight ones in the summer. As well as wool breathes, even the heavyweight ones will probably be more comfortable than synthetic ones in the summer.

Thought it was decent quality, and purchased other items but this material was a bit different and got holes along the seams after one season.

Caldo assicurato!
