Melissa & Doug Fold and Go Wooden Barn With 7 Animal Play Figures Farm Animals Barn Toy, Portable Toys, Farm Toys For Kids And Toddlers Ages 3+

I have had Melissa and Doug toys before and by and large they are of exceptional quality. This folding farm is my daughter's (age 2 and a half) favourite by a mile. I purchased this for a short holiday with a view to buying her a bigger farm for Christmas - however this is actually bigger than I expected and I feel more than adequate for a pre-school child to play with. Lovely quality, all the wood is smoothed down and it is painted very nicely. the hinge where the farm folds is the entire length of the farm and not just 2-3 small hinges - so very sturdy. Even the screws on the inside have been covered over with rounded wood so no nasty bits for a young child to catch themselves on. Very well thought out for children. My daughter loves the sliding barn doors which are easy for her to open and close and so wide that you can easily push animals through without any tantrums! Lots of open windows plus a wooden ladder and folding wooden fence. The plastic animals you get with this (sheep, horse, dog, turkey, pig, cow and goat) are perfectly adequate. Look fairly realistic and stand up pretty well. But we collect Schleich animals and these fit in nicely - even the smaller horses like Schleich Hafling Mare will fit in. Wonderful item and on the strength of how good this has been I've ordered the Melissa & Doug Fold & Go Castle for Christmas.

I have bought this for my grandson aged 21 months who plays for long periods of time with an identical farm in my house when he comes to stay from Ireland. It is solid and robust. Previous reviews have referred to sharp edges which made me wonder if this was the same product or a cheap copy but I am pleased to say it is a genuine Melissa & Doug item. With a tiny bit of effort you could 'make' fields of grass or flowers and a duck pond using cardboard and material for example and there are farm figures and animals to collect and build up the set !

Well made and great quality animal figures……a real winner..just wish I could get more animals from same company.

My daughter absolutely loves this barn and is great for storing all of her other farm animals inside. The only downside is I would recommend the manufacturers to add a latch on the side of the barn because when small hands lift the barn they're unable to hold it close. Instead it opens and all the toys fall out which is a pain when tidying. We've added one which didn't cost much or take long to do. Buyers should be aware of this before purchasing. In all an attractive product & a good buy; order a small latch too.

Really good value for money

Bought for my 2 year old grandson for Christmas who absolutely loved it at first site. He thinks it is an amazing house that opens up & also uses it as a garage for all his matchbox type cars but hasn't started using it as a farm yet. The sliding doors are a huge hit & he can even drive in some of his double decker buses! We will be attaching a hook & eye to secure the building when it's carried around though as I can see it crashing to the ground & probably breaking the spine/hinges & timbers.....& that would break my Grandson's heart. I did buy it in the Amazon deals for around £25 & would have been disappointed had I paid more. It is lightweight & the paintwork looks as if it may suffer so I am not sure how long it will last. The interior is raw unpainted wood & the mean quantity of animals is probably why the new owner doesn't play farm. Luckily I have some heirlooms to add when he needs them. But my Grandson is very happy owner of a new house... & a garage..... & a farm so I am happy too!

I was expecting a lot from this as I'd heard how great Melissa and Doug are supposed to be. I'd read some bad reviews but thought I'd try it anyway as most were glowing. I think their quality control wants tightening up drasticly. Some people seem to have well finished wooden toys. I wouldn't dare give this to a child, and as I'm not handy I don't know what to do. It's rough, splintery, scratchy. It not only doesn't have a latch to hold it shut, it doesn't stay together properly if you close it. The animals went straight in the bin, they were horribly tacky and wouldn't even stand up. If this is supposed to be good quality I'd really hate to see what poor quality is!

We haven't started playing with this yet but I can tell it is the quality that you get from Melissa & Doug products. Love the fact that the doors are sliding doors. I got my son the fold up travel castle for his birthday which he loves. That was 6 months ago and it is still as good as new, I suspect this will be the same. Much better than other, more expensive brands with small hinges and rub off stickers. A Christmas present so I have a while before I see how this endures but it looks really sturdy so I expect it will be great. I never write reviews but I know how hard it is to find good quality toys in a throw away society, so thought I would pass it on.

I was disappointed when I opened this product, but from previous reviews I feel ours is not as bad as others. The barn doors have a really bad paint touch up job and the barn doors don't slide easily and are not aligned properly. The dog has very strange colours and the neon goat horns?? Luckily my 2 year old didn't even notice but my 5 year old thought they were weird. Overall the product is not too bad and my toddler is too small to notice paint jobs but, but it is definitely not the usual Melissa and Doug quality. There is no latch to lock it so it will open if you carry it around. I also think it will lead to the main hinge breaking.

I've noticed some reviews from 2013 & 2014 where there were comments on the quality being poor, the paint being uneven and that certain places had rough, unsanded edges. These reviews were read from both Amazon and on the Toys R Us website. Honestly, I hadn't even noticed these things until I read the reviews. For me, they aren't really concerns but I've taken photos to address those complaints so you can decide for yourself if they are of concern for you. One thing people mention is that they wish it had some sort of closure since it is 'Fold & Go'. I have not had any issue with it staying closed while you clasp the handles. It hasn't always been treated kindly by the children playing with it so I am impressed with how sturdy the barn is. My animal loving 4 year old greatly enjoys this barn. The barn is sturdy, adorable, and a lot of fun, I am happy with my purchase.

Best little farm set toy ever. I had a Fisher Price one when I was a kid but this one is even better in my opinion.

Not only does this wooden barn set look great, it has lasted my niece at least 2 years now and she still plays with it. It's pretty good quality and comes with some great accessories: animals, fence, ladder.
