Q: What's the difference in a 280 and a 380 ?

280 has two jet nozzles while the 380 has three. Also the 280 is driven by gears while the 380 is belt driven. A high maintenance item from my experience. I have owned both and the 280 will out last the 380 twice as long by my experience.

Q: Does the 280 or 360 model come with the tail sweep or do you have to buy it separate

Mine came with the sweep tail .Overall I have been very happy with it. I live in an area with lots of surrounding large trees and this picks up debris well.

Q: will this work on a above ground pool?

Not sure about running it on the liner but you need a booster pump which you probably do not have on an above ground set up.

Q: Polaris tangles up when it backs up what cause that

I have found that two things cause Polaris feed hose tangles. As the hose ages, it gets stiffer. When the Polaris circles the pool, the hose overlaps and the loops tend to hook into each other. The other contributor is a faulty swivel. The swivel becomes old and does not turn easily. The swivel may also leak which causes loss of water pressure to Polaris. When pushing the hose onto a swivel end, be sure to grab the swivel with a pair of pliers on the end that is mating with the hose. This prevents the bearings from getting twisted off axis.

Excellent pool vac

This was a replacement for our ancient Polaris 180 which had stopped working properly. It is so much better than the old machine and does a fantastic job of cleaning the pool and sucks up and catches leaves and other detritus as small as large grains of sand. I’ve only had it a week so I can’t comment on reliability it I would expect it to last years. Note: I bought this from a seller in France and had failed to consider (and was not warned) the import charges/VAT when it was delivered which added nearly £100 to the price. Be warned if buying from overseas.
