Great new adventure with Finn, Jake, and the gang
I'm a big Finn and Jake fan. I've got most of the books (including the cookbook which has some really great recipes) so reading this latest offering was a given. The thing I noticed immediately is that this book is written in a style that makes it a little less for the younger crowd. The style is more mature, there's a smaller font than in previous books, and it presents some good advice for readers. Take the interview with Princes Bubblegum - I expected it to be about her as a princess, her relationship with Finn, etc., but it was about how much she loves being a scientist and experimenting and how being a hero means being kind to people, learning, and getting involved. The whole book is like this, and I love it. Yes, it has cutesy things like a spiral pull out Lady Rainicorn, but the underlying message running through everything in the book is how to be a good person. The author has done an excellent job of weaving a very important lesson into a wacky story line ruled by a shape-shifting dog and his human best friend who loves adventure as much as he does. Jake the Dog and Finn the Human might not always be the sharpest tools in the shed, but in this hero guidebook they and the other inhabitants of Ooo have a lot of fun telling and showing the reader how to be a real hero while the whole time subtlety teaching them some very important life skills. I was a bit surprised that this latest book wasn't as whimsical and fluffy others the author has written, so big kudos to him for taking on the difficult task of educating the reader on the sly.Younger readers will enjoy this latest Finn and Jake book, and will hopefully soak up the overall message of "be good to do good". Older readers will like the story as well, but maybe a little less since there isn't as much action and adventure as prior books. The "An Adventure a Day" calendar could be a fun summer vacation activity, as could other parts of the book like the one in the beginning about how to tackle a mystery. The pull-outs and pop-ups are cute, and the love letter from Mr. Pig to Tree Trunks was so sweet (and with a few changes could make a great set of vows for an Adventure Time themed wedding!). Regardless of the age of the person reading this, there's something in here that will tickle your fancy and make you yearn for your own adventure.

Damaged
Wasn't packaged in a box just thrown in a bag, all of the pages are dented. Apart from that, pretty cool.

The best illustrations and goodies, ok text
This book is all about the bells and whistles and not so much about substance. Having said that, the bells and whistles are awesome enough to carry the book and its general lack of narrative or interest.Starting with the cons, and moving to the good stuff, there's not much of a through line in the story or structure, except that it is a loose collection of ideas, advice, bios, cool moves, etc. there could probably be less text, since there's a LOT of overlap, and it's not terribly interesting. Take away the illustrations and 3-d coolness, and you have sort of a boring and disjointed book only fans will enjoy. Now for the good stuff! The quality of the pages and coloring is superlative. The pages are thick and eggshell glossy, with special illustrations highlighted with a high gloss that is truly impressive and begs to be touched and admired. Every page has color and lots of visual interest. In addition to those textural and color details, there are numerous interactive elements and removable goodies. Some items resemble what you might find in a pop up book. There are also little notes and posters tucked into the pages, things that can be moved to reveal more text/images, etc. It is Very engaging and fun to flip through. If you're a fan, this book is an obvious and solid choice. Even if you're not, this is a fun book to flip through, and is something even reluctant readers will probably enjoy. Well put together and exciting!

High Quality Hard Cover Book Will Take You on an Adventure
Ok, so through college I worked with my dad in a printing factory and let me tell you this is a very high quality printing job. The book is hard cover with glossy pages, pop ups, inserts and much more. It feels high quality in your hands. What a gift this will make for any Adventure Time fan in your life.I also watch the show with my two girls. We find it fun, intelligent, and always interesting. This book adds to the fun of the show. We have gotten other books based on the show just because we love it so much but none were as cool as this one. This book does not let you down. I do agree that the font is quite small in places, but if you think of it as a journal written by the characters, it kind of makes sense. There are hidden nuggets of information hidden all over this book. It's basically an Adventure reading it! The reading level of the book is higher in this one too. I'd agree with 4th grade level and up. There is a lot of content in here for you to sink your teeth into. It's not a one hour read and then put it on a shelf. This is going to make a lot of Adventure Time fans very happy.I am very happy with this book and would get it as a gift for anyone who likes Adventure Time, including myself.Notes:- Very high quality hard cover book with special pop out elements. I am very impressed how cool this book is.- Excellent story. I lot of fun information in this book.- The text is small in places. There is a lot packed into this book. I think this adds character to it.- Higher reading level than other Adventure Time books we've gotten. My girls will appreciate that since they are older.- Gives the feel that this is really by the characters from the show.
