Big power and suction for a price that's hard to beat.
I'm impressed, and so happy I went with this model over another brand I was thinking about. The only thing I could see bothering some people is the weight, its very heavy, which could be bad for someone that struggles with heavy lifting. Otherwise the weight feels good. It has a strong suction that you can feel as it pulls it tight to the carpet. The power button is in the best spot ive seen on a vacuum. Ive been without a vacuum for a couple weeks as my last one went out and Ive been shopping around. After one pass, my carpet is clean and looks new and fluffy again. I could find more nice things to say about it, but i'll stop there. If you're budget is around $300 and you dont cafe about the weight, you wont be dissapointed.

Works Very Well!
We had previously owned a "Pet Vacuum" and it just didn't go a good job. So when it was time to replace our old one I did my due diligence and searched the internet for the best one I could afford. I read both good and bad reviews to get a feel for what people are saying about a product. A Dyson was out of the question due to price, so I was after the best value. Some of the negative comments regarded the fact that the Kenmore Elite was not self-propelled, it was somewhat heavy, the height adjustment wasn't automatic and the hose was too short. BUT, it worked very well. After looking over other brands and options, I bought the Kenmore Elite Upright 31150.I was not disappointed! Yes, you have to manually adjust the height. No big deal. I need to do that once when I vacuum as we have shorter nap rugs in one area of our home. I then start in that area the next time. It is not self-propelled, but that's okay because if you have the height adjusted correctly, it will gently pull itself forward. Most of us need more physical activity anyway! I know I do. The hose is short-ish, but works for most of what I need to do with it and there is a wand for extra reach. The wand extends nicely. There are a couple of handy attachments as well, especially the mini-brush that spins using the force of the suction. We have three cats, one of which is a long hair who leaves piles of fine hair everywhere and the Elite has no trouble getting those out of our short nap carpet.Suction power is outstanding and when using attachments actually needs to be managed with the airflow gate on the hose. Maneuverability is fine, but because it isn't propelled by anything other than the spinning brush, it does take a little more effort than a self-propelled model. It is not "light weight", but I don't care about that. Like I mentioned, I like the physical aspect of using the machine.Regarding comments that said the brushes wear out; What are these folks doing to make that happen??? Even when I have the height set lower than it should be (which you should realize immediately as the vacuum wants to pull fairly hard) I still cannot imagine wearing the brush out that fast. We've had this vacuum for some time and I've very happy with it.A blue light on the nose of the machine lights up when you activate the brush then goes out after about 5 seconds. It will come on again when you go over an area with extra debris. My wife thinks it's a gimmick, but I like it because it will make me go over that area slowly until the light extinguishes, ensuring it's clean. This is typically where the felines favorite resting spots are, or near the entries to the house or around the fireplace. The LED "headlights" work great as well and really light up dark areas under furniture or in corners. The vacuum does have a bag which I much prefer over the canister type vacuums as all dust, hair and dander is contained. There are also exhaust air filters. All of these work beautifully.I don't have any Cons on this one; I love it and would by it again.

Overall similar to my Ricaar!
The closest thing I have gotten to my ricaar vacuum! Compared to a $500 vacuum that has lasted me a lifetime almost, this is the closest thing I’ve got to it and it’s damn near similar in every way! Admittedly, the suction power, cord length, and hose functionality is incomparable, but the suction power on the kenmore is the closest I’ve gotten to the Ricaars suction power. I will say it’s lighter than it though! Especially for being a bagged vacuum? Oh lord. It’s so gorgeous looking too, and is super easy to put together. We have 3 high shedding dogs (send help, lol) and it has held up gorgeously to everything they put out. One thing to mention.. when pushing it around just to move it from room to room? It doesn’t stay propped up. The foot pedal simply gives out and the vacuum falls at the slightest force of gravity. That’s my only real complaint! It is loud, so just a warning. But I expected that.

Kenmore elite
This is a beast! I have only used this one time and I really see the difference. It has powerful suction and really seems to clean the carpet. I like the dirt indicator that tells me where the dirt is so I can go over again. I previously had the $99 Bissell wind tunnel that burned up. I was reluctant to buy Miele because the cost. I hate spending the money but got the Kenmore for $269. I am glad I did.*the cord length is substantial, but not retractable, the cord is fairly heavy too and tends to curl up when using.*it could have a longer hose when you use the extension for those corners, the pole part is good with crevice tool.*it’s heavy, a little hard to manage in small areas, but really as powerful suction.*I have used it on area rugs and carpet, have not on hardwood.*love the light to see where you vacuum*all in all it’s meant and exceeded my expectations, but beware you will get a work out using it.*only wish it would go under the bed and furniture.

Great Power & Suction/Dumb Hose Design
I love this product so far, I just started using it. I replaced an annoying, bagless canister that was stinky and always falling over whenever I tried to use the hose. I understand some find this vacuum too heavy, but I personally like that factor. I was tired of my vacuum constantly falling over when I tried to do stairs or use the tools. This has gotten my carpets cleaner than I have ever seen. It is very easy to switch between hard floors and carpet. The suction is amazing. The exhaust can be quite strong and hot so I can see why some say it blows around dirt sometimes. I will never buy a bagless machine again. My only complaint so far is the stupid hose design on this machine. It is WAY TOO SHORT to make any sense. When you try to use it without the extension wand your hand is constantly causing the brush or other attachment to fall off. The hose with the extensions is just too short. It is rigid and unmanageable. Other than that, time will tell I guess but I am still satisifed I bought it. I have one short haired dog and about 1800 sq. ft. to vacuum with a mix of hard laminate, tile and carpet.
