Wow! The Secret Ingredient!
I ordered Okka 100% Natural Ground Sesame Tahini, 16 oz to make hummus. We have been in quarantine and social distancing for so long, and I have been trying new things in the kitchen. This was delicious! My entire family enjoyed the recipe, and I couldn't have done it without Okka's Tahini. I did use a coupon, so the price was very agreeable to me. I will buy this again.

I ordered it to make baba ganoush because of the many beautiful fresh eggplant at the Farmer's Market. It was great!

Yummy!
I use this mainly to make hummus. The flavor is so intense that I need to use less than of some other brands. Great value for the money!

Finishes bitter
Updating - Every recipe I've made using this tahini has turned out great! Both savory and sweet. I believe that the "bitter" I was tasing at the end of just the plain tahini is normal. I bought another jar of locally made tahini - at first I thought I really liked it better, but I'd really have to try both in similar recipes to decide. The new one finished with some bitter, too, so I'm thinking that's normal. This tahini is thinner than the locally made one I purchased. Again, not sure that means anything. I made a carrot tahini soup, date/tahini cinnamon rolls, tuna salad with tahini dressing, and I subbed the tahini for yogurt in a celery based salad I made. All delish!! I even used the tahini drizzled with some date paste along with my breakfast the other day. All good with this tahini.______ (end of update!)Ok, I'm new to buying tahini so maybe I'm a little off on what to expect. However, I've had tahini style dressing in the past and just loved it so I thought this would be good. First of all I was overwhelmed with the number of choices on amazon. I'm still not quite sure how I settled on this one. It arrived in good condition, easy to stir, doesn't separate. When I tasted it it wasn't the satisfying taste I was expecting. I immediately assumed it was because what I had before was a dressing probably with many ingredients besides tahini. However, the final taste that hit me was bitterness - bitter enough I though perhaps I got a bad jar. I still really don't know - is this how it's supposed to taste? The first part of the taste is fine but then the bitter hits. I made a salad with it that mixed the tahini with lemon. I thought that was good. I now have a batch of tahini cardamom date rolls in the oven. This is going to be sweet application of the tahini and I am very curious to see how they turn out. My next plan is to make a tahini dressing. The most common recipe I find includes lemon and maple syrup for the sweetener. I'm hopeful this will be good, too. But I really thought it would be good straight out of the jar as well. It might be if I wasn't getting that bitter bite. At the end of the day, even if the recipes I try taste good I'm going to be trying a different brand next and see if I can avoid that bitter ending. I'll update if I learn differently...
