Is this product third party tested and by which lab?

Not sure if it's 3rd party tested, but I found it absolutely INEFFECTIVE for SIBO, IBS-C, Reflux, and colonic motility issues.

how many are there in 250 mg, billions or millions?

Millions or billions do not even apply to this product. It's off the charts for a healthy digestive tract when compared to what i think of as junk that you buy at your local pharmacy. Don't waste your money on those...Florastor really works. Recommended dosage is only recommended...my GI said one a day will do the job and it has for 5 years now after being sick for 18 months, 2 hospital stays and tons of antibiotics to get rid of my diverticulitis and c-diff.

How many cfu and how many strains are included in florastor?

From the Florastor website: In general, CFUs are a scientifically accepted unit of measure for bacterial probiotics. Bacteria-based probiotics often claim a specific number of CFUs for comparison between other bacterial probiotics. Unlike the vast majority of bacterial probiotics, Florastor contains a yeast probiotic. The average size of a single probiotic yeast cell is approximately ten times the size of a single probiotic bacterial cell. Because our probiotic yeast cells are very different from probiotic bacteria cells, Florastor probiotics are not measured in the number of colony forming units; we measure Florastor in milligrams instead. Each capsule, stick or sachet contains 250 mg of Saccharomyces boulardii CNCM I-745.

Why does it contain lactose?

Great question! The small amount of lactose or natural milk sugar is added to help our live yeast remain stable over time at room temperatures . So when consumed, Florastor’s freeze dried probiotic cells are viable to do their important work in the colon to support GI health. We want to point out that lactose is not an active ingredient of Florastor probiotics. The small amount of lactose is simply a part of the manufacturing process of the live microorganism. The active ingredient in Florastor is our probiotic strain: Saccharomyces boulardii I-745. In healthy volunteers Florastor can stimulates an increase of lactase, the enzyme which naturally breaks down lactose. With over 50 years of use worldwide, we do not see data showing a signal or trend in reporting of adverse reactions or side effects, from Florastor consumers sensitive to lactose. Works wonders while on antibiotics

I’ve had to take a lot of antibiotics for mastitis while breastfeeding, and this stuff is an absolute life saver! It drastically reduced my symptoms while on the antibiotics and so far I have not gotten the dreaded c-diff even after taking some pretty potent antibiotics or combinations of antibiotics. I take it alongside a regular probiotic for an extra layer of protection. Highly recommend.

Florastor is EXPENSIVE

Florastor is a fabulous product for people suffering from things like diverticulosis. However, the cost is prohibitive and needs to come down. Come on, let's make OTC meds affordable!!

This stuff helped save my life!!

Hands down the BEST probiotic product on the market. It's pricy - but it's worth it. I went through a huge battle with C.Diff due to antibiotic use with a root canal. I have NEVER been so sick. And for SO long. I came across an article about this and pairing it with the treatment from my Dr. was a HUGE help. I still use it on and off for maintenance. If you are struggling with C. Diff and feeling desperate - BUY THIS. Right now. Seriously. Or if you are on any type of antibiotic - use this along side. It's effective.

Worked Great

There is a lot of hype regarding probiotics these days. I have taken different brands/types of probiotics in the past, but these seem to work better than all of the others. I started taking Florastor after a round of anti-biotics created an intestinal infection. After a bit of research, I read that the unique probiotic strain in Florastor could possibly help restore your health gut flora. I don’t think that the hype around Florastor is bogus, as I truly believe that this product has helped me quite a bit. It may be slightly pricey compared to other probiotics, but to me it is certainly worth it.
