MacleanMCE136 Microwave Motion Detector with External Sensor Body Movement Presence Sensor

This microwave sensor is a well made and effective device which has significant advantages over ceiling mounted PIR devices. The main advantage of this microwave sensor is that it seems, from the rather sketchy product description information and instructions, to be designed to sense movement in the room below when mounted above the ceiling by simply placing the sensor on the plaster board in the loft space. This avoids having to cut holes in the ceiling to surface mount the device. There is a photosensitive probe supplied which would require a 7mm hole to be drilled through the ceiling if day/ night operation is required but can just be simply ignored if constant sensing operation is required. It seems to be highly reliable and sensitive.I have used mine to automatically switch lights on in my shed and have enclosed the unit in a surface, wall mounted dual gang pattress box which works very well.

This is an excellent microwave based movement detector that prevents many of the false alarms that can occur with standard PIR sectors.It's also great that it can be fitted and sealed inside a small waterproof, wired connector box linked up to decking lights, and it works a treat.I also have one fitted inside the small roofgap if my porch. It's so good it even detects my car rolling into the drive at night.Great product, great quality, reliable and at a good price.Highly recommended.

I installed this unit above the bathroom ceiling for a LED light at night straight on top of the plasterboard (no holes needed) to replace a PIR unit that kept going off whenever the air moved when it was windy outside. No such problem with this although it took a bit of experimentation to get the correct cover as the "beam" will pass through the adjacent stud walls !

My old PIR sensor failed but this is so much better. Comes on before you enter the room. Only time will tell for longevity but seems very good.
