Saved me a PCI-e slot
These handy little adapters allowed me to remove my old FireWire card. Now I can plug my old FireWire drive into my USB card. Although I should really just copy everything over to an SD card.

DIdn't Work with My Mac Computers
These converters fit onto my cables, apparently the backup drives I was going to use these for wouldn't pass whatever data/electrical-power to allow using the drives on my existing computers. I found a different drive to either a USB-A or USB-C to work with my these drives instead.

Problem fixed
some old devices used odd ports and this resolved that. My old digital video recorder did just that and with this I can potentially transfer the videos to dvd's or such.

Not suitable for video data transfer
If you are trying to capture some old Mini DV tapes and you are trying to daisy chain your way up to USB C then this is not the right adapter. Fire Wire and USB are two different standards and this cheap little adapter will definitely not work. Use the official Apple FW800 to Thunderbolt 2, and then the Thunderbolt 2 to USB C instead. I can’t say if it would work for a HDD, try at your own luck.
