use these in two gutters and downspouts, they keep the downspout open and prevent big icicle from forming. I also run part of the cable on the roof, in the valley. Works well

Whoever wrote the description was obviously on crack! Water doesn't feeze at 40° and no place on earth gets down to -380°. There's no way it works to anywhere close to that low of a temperature.

I followed the directions, wow, a novel idea. It's easy to wrap sections of tin foil around the hose first (protects the hose from concentrated heat, and helps conduct the heat more evenly around hose). Secured every 6 inches with high temp electric tape. Then wrapped the whole deal with foam insulation tape.
