2.0" Replacement Shower Base Drain, PVC 2.0" Side Outlet Drain (Brushed Nickel)

The makers of this product have it made. Anyone who is installing a shower where there used to be a tub and you’re on slab will probably need this. This seems to be the only company that makes it. Our shower/tube combo that came with the house uses a standard (for tubs) 1.5 inch drain and pipe. Showers are 2”. Sure, you can get a pvc reducer at the hardware store but if you’re on slab like us, there’s likely not enough room to dig out the space you need to have the 2” drain, then a reducer down to the 1.5 pipe, (without digging to the earth’s core). This was worth the money and solved our problem.

The drain opening for the shower base we’re installing is several inches away from the existing drain pipe in this house.Having a drain with a side output made it easier to set up the necessary plumbing to get the shower drain connected to the drain pipe, especially since there wasn’t much depth available through the concrete slab.I did have to machine a PVC adapter on my lathe to get a 2” elbow to connect to a 1-1/2” pipe. Found out later that there is a 1-1/2” output drain available. I wish I knew that before, but it turned out OK anyway.

Remodeled from old tub to new walk-in shower... after a few attempts to get the plumbing adapted over with marginal success (much higher flow rate now) we replaced with this 2" high-flow drain. The configuration with the side outlet did the trick - you (obviously) still need a p-trap, etc.. but the side outlet really makes the fitting of everything in a cramped space possible. Good quality product.The box stores don't offer this product (that we could find) and so we were very pleased that we were able to have this in a couple of days.

We ordered this drain for a tub to shower remodel for our use in our old age. Worked perfectly with our molded shower floor with bench. We were surprised to find that the drain cover plate is a Matte Black metal as we had desired but thought we had to order separately.

Exactly what I needed to move our shower drain a short distance without having to tear up the floor and replumb.

Inner dimension of drain socket would not fit standard 2” PVC pipe, it required major sanding preparation work to eventually join with PVC cement.
