Dr. Abravanel's Body Type Diet and Lifetime Nutrition Plan Review: This diet REALLY works!!! - I bought this book about 2 weeks ago & started the diet plan for my body type immediately. I've already lost 5 pounds, & it's the easiest diet I've ever followed. The rules for each plan are spelled out in easy to understand language, so now that I know exactly what I'm allowed to eat the weight is practically melting away. Best of all, I never feel as if I'm depriving myself of nourishment. In fact, a lot of the time I feel as if I'm eating too much! It turns out that I was eating all the wrong kinds of food in my past. I've made a new lifestyle change in the way that I eat, & I'm never going back. I highly recommend this book!!! Review: AMAZING.. - AMAZING....30 YEARS AFTER LOSING 50 POUNDS ON THIS DIET I HAVE MAINTAINED MY GOAL WEIGHT WITHIN 10 POUNDS My heading says it all. I went on this diet at least 30 years ago when a condensed version was published in Cosmopolitan Magazine. My brother and his wife had invited me to go the beach with them but told me we all had to diet for the week that we were there. They went on a diet where you purchased the meals and I went on this diet because I had just received the magazine and I didn't want to spend money on replacement meals. I was shocked at the end of the week that I wasn't craving my old foods. I never looked back. I went from 180 pounds to 130 pounds. I was in my 30's at the time and had always been overweight and had tried many diets. I have basically followed the principals of the plan and I weight 140 pounds. This diet changed my life. I am the G Type and one of the first things I did was stop eating breakfast because as the book said, it made me hungry all day to eat breakfast. Get the book, take the quiz and follow your plan!

For me, It Works!
I really like this book. I know there are lots of people who say it is quackery, but that's okay by me. Whether or not you know what body type you are, it may or may not matter, but what I found it got me back to losing weight. I know, just eat 1200 calories and you'll lose. Well, that is not true. I don't like it when people say that. One diet or plan doesn't fit all. There are people out there who struggle with weight loss, it doesn't come off easy. I never had a weight problem till menopause. I tried all kinds of weight loss. Cutting out sugar, processed foods, etc. and they all worked okay for a while. I was gestational diabetic and carry the gene. I knew I had to do something. I tried Paleo, lost a few pounds, but really caused my gallbladder act up something terrrible, plus constipation so bad, no amount of prunes or laxatives worked. My BP was going up gradually, so I tried the DASH plan. Felt pretty good on it, lost 9 lbs and stopped. Had some hypoglycemia from it. Although my BP dropped some in just a few days. Was pleased with that. Then, followed the 1200 cal diabetic plan. Couldn't lose any, fluctuated back and forth with 1/2 pound. Very frustrating. Then I found this book, 4 different body types and 1200 cal plan for each one. I seemed to be T-type by a bit over the A-type. I liked the T-type plan better and decided to go with it. It has a higher protein then the others. It has worked. I am losing again. Most likely I was eating too much fruit and grains, even though we need them, to lose, I must have needed to reduce them some, even though I was keeping the carb count around 30 a meal. I am so pleased and I feel really good. I know he says keep the hours in between like clockwork. I don't. No snacking. I do, but only at bedtime, I have to or I wouldn't be able to sleep. I will wake up at 4am with my tummy wanting food. I ignore it and eventually go back to sleep. I can fast till about 11am. He says, if you crave it don't eat it. Don't know if I buy that one or not. I try and listen to my body. Vegetarian, very bad for me. I digest food so fast, no bean, greens, tofu stays with me for long, then I start to get shaky. I love eggs, I have my own chickens, I love fish and other meats. I love my sprouted ww bread. I love my raw milk. I get all that with this plan, and am losing weight. These foods are very satisfying to me and stay with me a long time. I can get hungry and don't get shaky or weak, so if I can't eat right away, I am okay. I am sure there is a plan for you in this book. It is well worth taking a look at it and giving it a try. If the body type plan for you doesn't work, try one that looks like if would fit you and give it a whirl. They are all geared around 1200 calories. I just may help those that are stuck on their weight. There is also an exercise plan to go along with it if you can do it, that seems logical. I don't do it, I walk, do some squats, and stretch mostly. However, if you find yourself obsessively craving foods, then you probably shouldn't eat that type. I need protein, but don't obsess over it. I do crave bread a bit, but a little satisfies me. I no longer have gallbladder or heartburn issues(on the most part, very rare now), feel good, have a bit more clarity and stamina, and am losing weight. So, don's listen to those that so rudely say, any diet will work if you eat less calories then you take it. They don't know. Everyone is different. You may have a medical condition. You should have that looked at. But I can easily stay on this way of eating for life, with a few adjustments. Just don't be so strict where you would be bound to fail. Adjust it according to your body.

An EXCELLENT way to start looking at diet, metabolism, weigh
I first found Dr. A's book 15 years ago, and read with interest. At that time I thought I was a G type, and not overweight, so wasn't interested that much in trying it. Then 10 years ago I married a vegetarian (an A type) and I went vege for 7 years. I was immediately so exhausted that I sat down at every opportunity, and just thought it was newlywed exhaustion! After having my child 5 years ago, I was so exhausted I was drinking about 10 - 12 cups of coffee everyday to survive! I hired a Body Type counseler and she typed me as a T type. Heaven! I started eating eggs voraciously and meat, fish, chicken, also glandular meats in the first few months to rev up the adrenals that had shrunk over the last 7 years and give my thyroid a rest. Interestingly I had thyroid disease during pregnancy and it took a long time for any one ( and several specialists) to figure out just what it was. I now know exactly what it was. Now I have been following the diet for three years. Coffee is down to decaf and I still want to eat a cookie in the afternoon, but if I do.....I get a sore throat. My body just can't handle the sugar after being off of it for so long. I have bought about 40 books and as a health care worker, whenever I meet someone who is lamenting their weight, I give them a copy....it is the bible as far as I am concerned, and I must add that Dr. de Adamo's book Eating Right for your Type, is a good follow up to fine tune things. I started lifting weights about a year and a half ago, so I mostly have gotten bigger, since I lost alot of muscle as a vegetarian, and my shape became smaller....now I am about the size I was in high school and I have to admit that I went on the cellulite diet and didn't lose one pound! I need to try again I guess, and I can only encourage everyone to at least read this book, as I watch my coworkers and friends eat and it is so obvious that this Dr. A is on to something here....

A little dry but informative...
I believe there is a lot of truth to the content here and it explains why one diet doesn't work for everyone. As a "protein" type, I actually feel and perform much better when I limit my carbohydrates, but the text reads highly technical at times and might not be easy for the general population to understand. Overall a good book with valuable information.

My dad had mentioned that he used to have a copy of this book. He really enjoyed the concepts and principals. Sadly he had lent it to someone who never returned it. Unfortunately the book is hard to find now. A hard cover goes for a lot of money. He was glad to have even the soft cover back to enjoy.

As I'm onn aloose weight diet (having lost 3 stone already with many more still to go!) I stumbled across this book which my daughter bought, and stuffed into a drawer ages ago. From the first page to the last i was glued,so decided to buy a copy for myself. Packaging and condition fine. As it needed to be shipped from the states it took awhile but arrived in plenty of time for the last postage date declared. Its a great book.Very very informative knowledgable and easy to read. I highly recommend the seller too; based on its arrival condition and price- a used copy but in great condtion for just 1 penny! Postage is just a few pounds so highly worth it. Thankyou.

As a professional Reflexologist and teacher I have found this book invaluable. So many people seek help from alternative therapies - which usually solve their problems - but this book goes a step farther, it looks at your body shape, your food cravings, which glands control your general health, and which foods and quantities are best for you to keep at your perfect weight.
