FireAngel ST-750T 10 Year Thermoptek Smoke Alarm

Purchased recently to replace our detectors. A good buy with a 10 year guarantee so won’t have to change probably in our lifetime. In testing found detected smoke very quickly and siren necessarily easy to hear. They are really sturdy and very easy to install. Would buy again. Good value for money

well made, easy to install and does work well, as imoke from the hobt went off when pasta water boiled over and caused smoke from the hob. Hasn't gone off for no reason yet. Easy to test button, and red active light that blinks every 40 seconds to confirm it is working. So all good so far

smoke alarm is good except the instructions should be clear that the two lugs to be removed are ONLY when the screws used to fixed to the ceiling. If the low battery alarrn sounds first remove the alarm and refit it and it will probably be ok, rather then purchase a new item

My old smoke alarms had 10-year batteries and had started to chirp recently, warning of low battery levels after around a decade of use. I looked around carefully and decided to buy these ones as replacements, helped by their recommendation as a ‘best buy’ in Which magazine. They were a doddle to fit, requiring only that a plastic base be srewed to the fitting surface, then the alarms are placed onto them. The fitting activates the alarm and that’s it – done. There’s a faint reg light on each and the test button sounds when pressed, so within a short time everything was sorted. Each alarm had a small sticker underneath which stated when the installed battery would need to be replaced. It was September 2035 on both which offers some reassurance to me. The instructions were clear, and the devices are well made with the appropriate screws and (basic) wall plugs supplied too. I would happily order more if needed.

Easy to install and essential alarm to have in everybody’s home.

Arrived very promptly. I was pleased to see that the expiry dates on my 3 units were Dec-2029 and Feb-2030, so they are evidently new stock. If you are wondering, like me, what the difference is between FireAngel's ST-620, ST-622 and ST-750 alarms, all of which are thermoptek, identical in size and seem to have the same specification in the data sheets & manuals supplied by FireAngel, the answer apparently is that the sensors are slightly different, the ST-750 being the newest. The face of the alarm is simple: one big button and one flashing light, unlike some that have multiple buttons for different purposes. There is a single LED that flashes every 40 seconds to show it is operational; I have yet to see how bright this appears at night, so I've not yet put up the one for my bedroom. Incredibly simple to put up; with two long slots in the base plate at 90 degrees to each other, it doesn't matter if your two screws don't go in exactly where you planned! and it means you can rotate the base plate a little if you want the face of the alarm aligned in a particular direction. I gave 5 stars for "battery life" on the basis that the battery is meant to last 10 years, which is a big bonus - no additional expenditure on an expensive 9V battery (or whatever) every two years. Obviously I'll only be able to comment on actual battery life in 2029! I was spending £10 ten years ago on basic smoke alarms, so this one is ace value, having a thermoptek 'heat & optical' sensor. The 'end of life' silence facility is an added bonus, so you aren't driven bonkers by the thing chirruping all night! (nor have to take it down and de-activate it) - it will keep protecting you for up to another 7 days, until you have been able to replace it. Brilliant!
