Works perfectly and is very easy to use
Just plug it in and it’s ready—no software needed. Lightweight, quiet, and reads CDs and DVDs without any issues. Great option for laptops without a built-in DVD drive. Excellent quality for the price. Highly recommended!

Great to have around, reliable and compact.
I haven't owned any DVDs for at least ten years now, but every once in a while I need to access files or an ancient archive disc and this little unit saves my bacon. It's never failed to read my discs, some of them over 25 years old! The cables tuck away very nicely. And it needs no external energy source. I haven't tried burning a DVD but it's amazing to me that this inexpensive device can do that. And when the AI take over, you may want a way to keep digital info off of the cloud. XD

Laptop-Style Drive
Sure, I'll write a review. I plugged it in and it works, first time! Just like it's always been a part of the computer. Nothing to install, no need for additional power outlet, runs off USB. No software included, but for what? Essentially what you have here is your typical laptop-style drive, meaning, you snap the CD\DvD to the spindle and push the drawer in. Watched a DvD movie on it last night, even paused it a couple times, no problems. Update: Okay I had some problems develop a few weeks after use: 1) wouldn't read disc. 2) ejected disc, ejected disc so much I couldn't keep it closed, ejected on boot up, ejected in middle of a movie! 3) started vibrating like it was exceeding its RPM. Then, I turned it over, removed three screws and re-seated the drive in the connector, and closed it back up, and so far it's been quiet and playing nicely. Okay, Love It!! This drive and VLC makes for a great DvD movie player!

The USB port broke off way too easy. Player works great otherwise
Works great only problem my USB plug got stuck and broke off in my TV. It doesn't even work that way. A CD got stuck because it lost power. Bad news is the wire has five smaller wires so it's not quite so easy to splice. Good news is if you take the cord off, the base of the cord is a USB C port into the main mechanics of the player. So you can take any USBC that can transfer video audio data from your phone to a computer into the player and get it to work from there. No clue why the USB port broke off so easy. First day of having it, looks super ugly, but it's fully functional. And I don't think this USB C port for USB port is going to snap off because it never has before.

working well so far, no complaints.
It works. Using makemkv to download my DVD collection. Max rip speed seen with dvd was 7.1x, average typical 3-4x. giving errors about region setting but it plays dvd using vlc medial player and ripping DVD just fine. Over all working well no complaints.

loud but burns quickly, stubborn cable but connects to macbook air
when i got this and tried to plug it into my macbook with the type c cable it wasn't connecting. i was getting really sad about it, but then i realized that it wasn't in all the way. so keep this in mind if you use a computer with usb type c: you have to push the cable in as far as possible to get it to read the disc player. it should make a click once you get it in far enough it's a bit stubborn. once it was in i got it to burn a mixtape of my favorite band, with 15 songs or 56 minutes, and it burned the cd in around five minutes, maybe less. it was super loud while burning, but personally i don't mind as someone who grew up playing on the xbox 360. anyway after it was done i put the disc in my radio/cd player and it plays flawlessly with great sound. so personally i had a mostly great experience with the disc drive, i would absolutely recommend if you want something cheap, easy to use, and high quality

Easy to use
This drive is very easy to use, even for someone without much technical experience. Setup was simple, and it worked right away without needing extra configuration. The writing speed isn’t the fastest available, but it’s reliable and gets the job done for everyday CD writing tasks. It’s highly compatible with different systems, which is a big plus. However, I did notice one odd issue: after burning CDs, some computers couldn’t read all the data using their own internal CD-ROM drives. Interestingly, when I used this external drive to read the same CDs, everything worked perfectly. While this was a bit strange, it didn’t stop the drive from being useful overall. Overall, it’s a solid and dependable option if you’re looking for something simple and compatible, as long as you’re aware of the minor reading inconsistency on certain systems.
