O'Neill Men's 21 Inch Outseam Hyperfreak Stretch Swim Boardshort

Since it was infuriating trying to choose a size of board shorts when none of the reviews gave useful sizing information, I figured I would give some poor soul at least one data point to work from. I'm 6' 3", 155 lbs, and my actual waist measurement at the top of my waistbands is 32", and 33" a little further down where most pants tend to sit. I wear 29x32 in Levi's 514 jeans. Due to several reviews of other O'Neill boardshorts fitting small, and the Zappos page for these showing the model wearing a size up from his measured waist, I ordered a size 33. Of course I should have gone with my gut, which was saying that was too big. When I tried them on with the waist tied at its neutral position, I was able to gather up a flap of extra fabric about 2" long. Even cinched up tight, they'd barely stay on. Here are the actual measurements, taken with the boardshorts laid flat: Top of the waistband: 16.5" Bottom of the waistband: 18" Outseam: 21" Leg Opening: 10" With all this in mind, I'm going to return them for a size 29. I'll edit this review when they come in. The boardshorts themselves feel great. The fabric is light and just slightly stretchy. It seems very breathable. I ordered black, so I don't think there will be any problem with them showing off too much, but of course I haven't worn them in the water yet. The pocket measures 5.5 inches wide, 4" deep at the back, and 6" deep at the front (the bottom of the pocket is cut at an angle). It's very subtle, and contributes to the nice clean looks of these boardshorts, which was a major selling point for me. The zipper operates smoothly. My wife and I both liked how they looked on me, I just got the wrong size unfortunately. Hopefully the next pair fit better! Update: Just got the 29s. They're perfect. The fit is pretty slim, but the stretchy fabric means you're never constricted or uncomfortable. Measurements below: Top of the waistband: 14" Bottom of the waistband: 16" Outseam: 21" Leg Opening: 9"

These board shorts are better than expected. I never knew how quickly a pair of shorts could dry after being in the water. These things start to dry instantly, and you can see it happening when you look at the material. I'm a 32" waist and these fit perfectly. I also like the length - not too long and not too short. I really liked that these had a zippered pocket for loose change, credit card and ID. A five-start product for a great price. Make sure that you wash in COLD water. Hot water will make the colors run. If you wash in hot water, you'll turn your white clothes pink!

Got them for work as a scuba instructor and it fits great, very flexible and comfortable.

I love them! A little larger at the waist then size indicates but its better then smaller at waist then expected, Shorts are comfy are roomy and again its better then small and tight and disco dancing in them.

Not sure I can ever buy another brand/type of swimming trunks again. These dry so fast and feel so comfortable! They fit a little snugly, which seems to restrict movement just a tiny bit, but they are awesome and I will buy more through the years.

My husband absolutely love these swim trunks. He is muscular and sometimes pants are too tight. He has larger thighs and these swim trunks were a little tight but being that they are stretchable they fit great. They dry quick and are made up of high quality material. I would highly recommend these to anyone
