Just twist it and turn....this device can pull up the compost sitting in the bottom of the pile easily. It's more solid than it appears and works like a charm to turn compost pile.I used it to pull out a lot of dry leaves from last fall. Makes it a perfect match with all the grass clips from this season for an ideal brown/green ratio.Highly recommended.

Effective and easy to use, this does a remarkable job of breaking up and circulating compost. At first use, I was able to break loose compacted compost, aiding in aeration.

I don't usually leave reviews (good or bad), but I bought this because it was a bit cheaper than others like it and I was skeptical because the business end looked a little bit wimpy. But I didn't realize how anerobic the bottom of my compost was until I cranked this this to the bottom and had a really hard time breaking it up. The day after, my compost was steaming because of the aeration.My compost bin is essentially a 35 gallon plastic trash bin. This is perfect for bins just like it. It's just simply a great product.

I was not disappointed. It does exactly what I thought it would do which is spin the compost bringing the bottom to the top. It doesn’t do large amounts, but in small bites, it turns the compost well.

My grandson is interested in composting and organic gardening. This is an excellent learning gift!

Easy to assemble. Simple. Sturdy. I have been using a spading fork to mix and turn my leaf compost in my Geobins, but that can be a little back-breaking, especially since I have more leaf compost this year and it’s a heavier volume to turn. This mixer easily spirals down into it and then i can life straight up and it pulls up the stuff from the bottom. I do that several times in several spots and that seems to mix it thoroughly with a lot less back work. I do think it was a little more expensive than I would have hoped, but it seems to be a great addition to my gardening tools. Would recommend.

I was pleasantly surprised how easy this aerator is to use. I really didn’t have great expectations, but it is easy to rotate and helps turn the compost without having to use the traditional method of pitch forking the compost into a new pile in order to turn it. So far, it seems to do what I need and makes composting for me less labor intensive and not a task I dread.

For the Compost set-up I have this tool is perfect!
