Worth every penny.
Weirdly I dropped my meds whilst reading book & told myself to get a grip. On reflection the meds where offered to me as was the sleeping tabs all bad stuff esp the sleeping tabs the devils own poison when you come to drop them.Yes the book is dated & has some religious quotes in there for good measure BUT it works, go to bed at night & read a new chapter It may have been written along time ago but why should that alter anything? Stress is stress, worry is worry, anxiety is anxiety. At the end of every chapter there are a few helpful lines on the chapter you’ve just read which I find as being quite helpful in carrying out/remembering what to do.A fine example of doing what it says on the tin a 10/10 self help book for me as long as you try to carry out doing what it advises to do.

This (audio) book actually worked for me.
This book has seriously helped me. I’m not going into fine detail here, but lets just say I was at the stage where I was looking at books like this, so I’m guessing you are too.I recommend the audio book version because I found the Narrator to be excellent and sounds like an old friend.I would play the book when going out for a long drive or a longer walk and have listened to it’s entirety around five or six times. If you have past events that you really need to move on from but are struggling to then you really should listen to this book.

The Godfather of all self help books
I have read hundreds of self help books and this book ranks in the top 10. Common sense ideas on how to live your life with references to Psychology, Philosophy, Alchemism and Religion. No matter your belief or faith, there is something for you.

Recommended for worriers
I have found this book really useful when making a conscious effort to worry less.Whilst it may not really tell you much more than you already know (a lot of it is about taking a logical, common sense approach), reading real world anecdotes helps to put things into perspective and give you the inspiration to help to try and make a change. There are some parts that do tie in heavily with religious beliefs, which is not for everyone, but this can be skipped over if you prefer.Overall a good book which provides a framework for you to adapt to help deal better with your own worries.

Just brilliant
Dale Carnegie was a genius. I read how to win friends a few years ago and loved it. I didn't think this book would be as good, but it's just as relevant, just as powerful and life-changing as how to win friends. Very easy to read and great to have on hand as a general 'guide book' to living life to the full. Recommended

One of the original and best self development books
One of the original and best self development books. It is powerful because it is based on extensive interviews conducted by Dale Carnegie, rather than the thoughts of 1 individual. If you only buy 1 self development book I recommend it's this one.

"Those who worry more die early"
As mentioned by others, the attitude the author has towards people who are constantly in a state of anxiety is unsympathetic. I get that he seems to be going for a tough love approach, but telling people who already worry a lot that 'people who worry die early' seems pretty counterintuitive to me. Most people who are prone to worrying, also worry about how much they worry. The section on 'what worry does to you' is terrible, and has little evidence to back up ideas around how worry can give you heart problems, stomach ulcers etc. Oh, and if you're a woman, it will ruin your looks (but only if you're a woman, because clearly women are the only ones who care about their looks). I'd say this book is helpful for those who worry occasionally but don't have a mental health condition like anxiety.
