Works with 23-awg wire. Fits securely overhousing. I'm using on Cat 7 cable for network endpoints and long HDMI runs. No issues. You'll want an old fashioned crimper to crimp the strain relief to the cable. I didn't solder the shield just crimped it.

I purchased these to make repairs to damaged CAT 7 cable assemblies. Much to my surprise when connecting a repaired cable I find that these connectors do not fit the standard hardware Ethernet receptacle on a router, internet modem, or television. I have no idea what they are intended for but I cannot use these. In addition they were very difficult to get continuity through the repaired cable. I don't believe they support stranded cable.

These are ok but didn't really get the feeling these crimp too well so would recommend a regular 8P8 RJ-45, if using these strain relief around the backend shielding crimp will be needed to keep strain off of the main crimp.
