Absolutely great!
Friends told med that Lifestraw has been named "Best Invention of the Year" by Time Magazine and been featured on Tate Modern and MOMA in New York, so I startet to read about this amazing technology. It wasn't hard to decide to get the new LifeStraw and I have already tested it and it worked perfect with water from our little creek in the neighbourhood. I can't wait to bring it on a big hike! Furthermore, clean water for an entire school year for a child in Africa is donated when you buy one of these bottles, which is simply great :-)

100% best item I brought to Nepal
Used in rural Nepal for 10 weeks. 100% the best item I brought with me, drank from many water sources (some very dirty) and was never sick or sorry. Leaked very slightly but only occasionally. Water was practically tasteless.

Lifestraw was a Lifesaver!
I ordered the life straw bottle to take to Kenya with me for 2 months of volunteering and was not disappointed. I was living with a local family in a very rural town so water was not filtered. But I could simply fill up my Lifestraw bottle from any kind of tap or running water and it did a great job. I carried my Lifestraw with me everywhere, and always stayed hydrated and never got ill once! Good job lifestraw! Would thoroughly recommend and will be taking my Lifewstraw bottle with me on my next trip! One of my most essential items whilst in Kenya!I also found out that one of the designers of Lifestraw used to work at the same place I was working and they had provided a lot of the local schools I was teaching in with Lifestraw water filter systems for the school kids, very impressive!

Great but does leak often
Very good, I took this Greek island hopping- however it does not filter salt and therefore I couldn’t use it on tap water as locals don’t even drink it.I did fill it with the local fountain water and it worked well! It’s now my day to day bottle and will be replacing the straw before my 3 month, south wast Asia trip this upcoming summer,.Only downside is that it does leak if it’s not upright, quite a bit too.

Expensive leaky water bottles that aren't fit for purpose.
Used two of these on a trip to India. One drips consistently if it isn't vertical from the air pressure hole. The other bottle had an issue of leaking badly on and off. What is concerning is that any leaks from there go all over the mouth piece, therefore making the filter pointless as the mouth piece is contaminated.Certainly not leak proof as claimed. So in summary they are just very expensive leaky water bottles that aren't fit for purpose. Certainly if your "Life" depended on them for filtering the water then they should probably be remained "Death Straw" as it is unreliable at best.

57 grams and 1,000 liters – great buy
For the weight, I believe there is no better backcountry water treatment available on the market today. LifeStraw operates without chlorine or any chemicals with means no strange flavors like most other filters in the market. The flow rate is perfectly great for active pursuits, there is no moving parts to break or filters that need replacing every couple of days, and it does all this at a fraction of the cost and weight of other filter and UV water treatment options. Furthermore, what other water treatment system has been tested successfully by people on a daily basis in the most contaminated parts of our planet? A final plus is the fact that for every LifeStraw sold a child in Africa will receive clean water for an entire year! This is simply amazing.

Careful with leaks and pressure surges!
Testing at home and not in the field. I am confident the filter will work as advertised and the taste of my tap water is definitely improved.However...The first one leaked on initial testing - on its side or upside down with the straw closed. It's the OUTSIDE of the straw at the hinge where it passes through the lid. Means that contaminated water can get on the straw. Not good. My daughter's leaks in the same way albeit after about 90 days' use. Over time would soak the inside of a rucksack. The replacement I now have from Amazon is very secure, with an excellent seal. Maybe too good! The problem now is that if you fill with cold water and it gets warm then with the expansion and increase in internal pressure when the straw is opened the water spurts out as if out of a whale's spout! This is water coming up the INSIDE of the straw. The lesson is to unscrew the top a little to release the pressure before opening the drinking straw. It's curious because there appears to be a pressure relief valve and if that is the case then the valve is not working. Writing this I'm in two minds as to whether to send this one back too...

Travelling Must Buy!!
Great product, purchased for my sister which is currently travelling around Asia and Australia. She strongly recommends this product as its easy to clean and really easy and cheap to replace the filter inside. Additionally, the clip which allows you to attach the bottle to anything is extremely handy while exploring.
