Great value thermometer
The thermometer is easy to use with good accuracy. Quality is great and size is small enough for storing in the kitchen drawer. Easy to read and works very well!

As described
Very good temperature gun. Works as expected, it's fast and reasonably accurate. Easy to use and half the price as the one sold by ooni.

Works well
Whilst the item works out of the box on the face of it, and will give a relative reading, you actually need to figure out what your doing and understand the immisivity of what you're pointing it at. also for any form of accurracy you have to get pretty close to avoid some form of average. I was looking to sort flow and return temperatures on the central heating (balancing each rad too) and it was good enough for that using multiple readings. The thermal imaging cameras would be much better, but are much much more expensive, so overall good value for moeny

Good value, easy to use, well built
Nice little thing for the money, going to find this very handy. I was a little disappointed when I saw in other peoples reviews some mentioned a protective case, and I have seen that shown in a couple of youtube reviews. Only I didn't get a case! I double checked and no case is mentioned in the included parts list or anywhere in the discription, even though the unboxing video seemed to show exactly the same box, I guess because my purchase came with a meat probe, I didn't get a case? Oh well, minor gripe, I will fashion or repurpose my own as I think it's going to be quite important to protect the cavity the sensor sits in, must keep that free of dirt.As for the 'gun' it's self, very well put together, as accurate as I need and fairly straight forward to use, the emissivity table in the instructions is handy - hint black electrical tape has an emissivity of .98 which is the default for this gun, so rather than faff about you could slap a patch of black electrical tape down on something you will be reading often. So yep, no need to spend a fortune on these things, this is good for most needs including a lot of professional like HVAC and mechanic etc

Great for checking oven temperature
It feels very light in the hand but seems to do the job well. I haven't calibrated it so I don't know how accurate it is, but it tells me, numerically, if something is hot or very hot or extremely hot. That's good enough for me.

---**ERICKHILL Infrared Thermometer Review: A Precise, Practical Tool for Every Toolkit**In a world increasingly reliant on quick, non-invasive diagnostics—whether in the kitchen, workshop, or industrial space—infrared thermometers have become essential tools. The **ERICKHILL Infrared Thermometer**, with its temperature range of -50℃ to 600℃, offers a compelling blend of precision, convenience, and safety. Having used this device extensively, I found it to be a well-designed, affordable option that lives up to its promise in most areas of application.### First Impressions and DesignStraight out of the box, the ERICKHILL thermometer gives off a professional yet accessible vibe. It comes equipped with two AAA batteries, so it's ready to go right away, and includes a user manual that’s clear and concise. The body is made of durable plastic, making it lightweight and easy to hold for extended periods without fatigue. Its compact size means it fits easily into a tool kit, drawer, or even a pocket—perfect for home users or professionals on the go.The **blue backlit LCD display** contrasts well against the black digits, making it easy to read the temperature in low-light or outdoor settings. One of the most appreciated features is its **folding design**, contributing to easy storage without compromising functionality.### Performance and AccuracyOne of the standout features of this thermometer is its **accuracy**, which is stated to be within +/-1.5°C or +/-1.5%. In real-world testing, this seemed to hold up well. Whether checking the surface of a sizzling cast iron pan, a pizza stone, or even a car engine, the readings were consistent and closely aligned with benchmark tools. Its **0.5-second response time** ensures that you don’t have to wait around for measurements, which is ideal when working with high-heat applications. The thermometer uses an **advanced Fresnel lens** and modern temperature sensor technology. The adjustable **emissivity range of 0.1 to 1.0** allows for a broader array of surfaces to be measured accurately, from matte-finish cast iron to shiny metal sheets. While this might sound technical, the manual explains how to adjust it based on your material type—a great inclusion for beginners and pros alike.### Laser Targeting and Distance RatioThe built-in **red laser** is a simple but critical feature. It allows you to pinpoint exactly where you’re measuring, which adds a layer of confidence, especially when targeting specific zones on larger surfaces or hard-to-reach areas. This feature, combined with a **12:1 distance-to-spot ratio**, means you can measure from a safe distance without sacrificing accuracy. Whether you're testing a grill surface, a pizza oven, or radiator pipes, this range gives you the flexibility to stand back from hot surfaces or hazardous areas.### Multi-Functional FeaturesThe thermometer switches easily between **Celsius and Fahrenheit**, making it accessible regardless of your preference or region. Another welcome touch is the **auto shut-off function** after 12 seconds of inactivity. This conserves battery life significantly—a detail that often goes overlooked in budget devices. The LCD is **backlit**, ensuring visibility in darker environments, such as dimly lit garages, evening BBQs, or industrial spaces with poor lighting. It's clear that ERICKHILL has paid attention to real-world usability, not just technical specs.### Application ScenariosWhile the product is **not suitable for measuring human or animal body temperature**, it’s perfect for a wide range of other uses. In the **culinary world**, it shines—checking oven walls, grilling temperatures, cast iron surfaces, or even confirming that a pizza stone is properly preheated. When paired with wood pellets and a pizza peel (as often bought together), it becomes a pizza oven enthusiast’s best friend. In **mechanical and automotive work**, it’s excellent for diagnosing heat buildup or cooling performance. Electricians can safely check overheating breakers or transformer temperatures. It's also handy for **HVAC professionals** checking duct temperatures or radiator efficiency.Do note that it's **not suitable for transparent surfaces** like glass or clear plastic. These surfaces reflect infrared energy differently, leading to inaccurate readings. This is clearly stated in the product documentation and is standard across most IR thermometers.### Safety and ComplianceSafety is another area where this device excels. It conforms to **FDA, FCC, RoHS, UKCA, and CE standards**, giving confidence that it’s been thoroughly vetted for quality and safety compliance. The **Class 2 laser** used in the device is safe for use as long as it’s not directed at human or animal eyes. ERICKHILL is upfront about these limitations, which shows a commendable level of transparency. They also offer a **3-year after-sale service** and **technical support**, which is a rarity at this price point. This added layer of support gives the product a premium feel, even if it's budget-friendly.### Value for MoneyPriced competitively and often part of bundled deals with complementary cooking or DIY tools, the ERICKHILL thermometer offers strong value. For the price, it offers features typically reserved for higher-end models: adjustable emissivity, laser targeting, a decent distance ratio, and a reliable accuracy range.Whether you're buying it alone or with items like wood pellets and a pizza peel, it rounds out any kitchen or tool shed setup quite nicely. The bundles also make great gifts for BBQ lovers or DIY enthusiasts.### Final ThoughtsThe **ERICKHILL Infrared Thermometer -50℃~600℃** is a thoughtfully designed tool that delivers excellent performance in a compact, easy-to-use package. It’s ideal for home cooks, grill masters, HVAC pros, mechanics, and DIYers alike. While it's not for medical or transparent surface use, it excels everywhere else. The added safety certifications, adjustable settings, and excellent support make this a standout in its category. If you’re in the market for a **non-contact, precise, and user-friendly temperature gun**, the ERICKHILL thermometer deserves serious consideration. It’s an affordable, reliable choice that won’t disappoint.---Want a shorter version for quick posting or need help reviewing the other items (like the wood pellets or pizza peel)? Just let me know!
