Nail Bitter and Conversation Igniting!
We all loved this book! It has mystery, suspense, plot twists and turns. My kids begged me to keep reading way past bedtime! This book had us discussing life back in the day, theories about the twists in the plot, and other topics. Even my High Schooler wanted to hear more of the story.

Awesome-mysterious/couldn't stop reading my 10th time reading!)
This was an awesome book because it was very must! It showed a lot of character and strength. Also it was well put together and I thought it was one of the best books she has written! It was styled perfectly and the lay out was very nice. There were great transitions and everything flowed so you would understand everything! Except at the beginning it was a bit confusing when they said the dates of Clifton and the outside world I got a little confused but then I regained the information put it together and understood. This is my 10th time reading this book and it was just as good as the first time! I actually think I could read this book everyday and not get bored because everyday I would read this I would understand more! It's not a one-time read it's were if you don't have a book to read, reread this one or reread it again because you never get enough info you always gather more information and understand better every time you never get bored and you never get to no everything that is happening in the book unless you read it a billion times which I would totally do! So this was a pan awesome book I recommend it to all and if you read this you can find me on Instagram and follow me if you actually read all the way down to were I finished and you can find me by looking up @swimmer129 and I should show up with a picture of me and my brother in Maine on the Geti with me with a pink sweatshirt! Also my name is Emily Murphy! Thx for reading and hope you like what I wrote and you read the book and think the same thing thx again and read😝📚

Interesting fantasy...
Jessie and her family live in a village in Clifton Indiana, 1840, and diphtheria has started to spread. The kids are starting to die. They need medicine and need it soon. But how will they get it? They're in the middle of nowhere. No, it turns out they are not. Jessie finds out from her mother that the year is really 1996 and that the village is nothing but a tourist site, a reconstructed village, where people can watch what life was like in the 19th century. But things have gone wrong and Jessie has to escape and tell somebody that the people in the village need help. Because the company running the site have stopped giving them drugs and her mother thinks the outside world may be in worse shape than when she left it. It could be the company running the site WANTS the kids to get sick. Can Jessie escape the park, find somebody to help her and save the kids? Or will she be stopped? Will she be killed? The novel seems to be the idea, the tiny seed, behind the movie The Village but the plot of the novel seems a tad weak. Of course, it is for Ages 8 to 12 but still I feel it could have been a tad more dark and realistic.

awesome book; note that $2.99 edition has big permanent price tag on its cover
I adore the idea of this book! Jessie has grown up in the tiny town of Clifton in the 1800s, thinking that it is the real world. There are a few odd things she has noticed, but it is her home and seems real to her. Then kids in the village start getting sick. They need more help than 1800s medicine can offer, so her mother sneaks Jessie out of Clifton and into the real, modern-day world of 1996. Jessie is the only one who can go get the desperately needed help for the sick kids. But first she has to learn a huge number of things in order to get by in the modern world. The book describes how Jessie learns about them as she searches for help.In the end, there are some plot holes that are big enough to drive a truck through, but I found I loved this book anyway. Jessie is a wonderful heroine, and the idea of this book is wonderfully original. My six year old son enjoyed having this book read to him.I do want to post a warning that the $2.99 edition of this book, which I bought as a gift for my sister, has a yellow circle on the front cover, with black lettering saying, "Adventurous Price! Only $2.99. ($4.50 CAN)" Ick! The yellow circle is about an inch in diameter, with an orange and black border around it. Amazon didn't have a picture of the cover for this edition of the book. I'm embarrassed to give this edition as a gift. I can't remove the price. I'm thinking maybe I'll put stickers over it. Sigh....

Journey through time
I read this book when I was maybe 10, and as an adult I wanted to read it again. I was able to purchase it and read it as well as my 12 year old son. The story takes you on quite the adventure through time and then pulls you back to more modern times. It’s an aspiring story of a young girl willing to go above and beyond to save the people she loves.

Best book ever!!!!
I have literally read this book two maybe three or four times and it never gets boring. even though I have read it so many times I am always like what will happen next. it is definitely a book that keeps you on the edge of your seat and makes you want to keep reading. this book isn't that violent or scary and is a great read for anyone from third to fourth grade to collage or ending of high school. actually it is a perfect book for anyone not to young (below third, second grade at the lowest). this book does have a few words that might be harder to understand for younger readers.again best book ever!!!!

My childhood book!
Reread this again because I really loved this book when I was a child. However, reading it as an adult now kind of ruined the magic. The premise of the story is still entertaining; sort like Westworld for kids. The writing however, is really stunted and I find Jessie REALLY annoying. I know she discovers a lot of new things and she's right to ask lots of questions, but man, she was so annoying.

Well paced and keeps you on your seat the entire time.
I remember reading this as a kid in middle school, and it's just as good, if not better now that I'm reading it as an adult. Haddix is a brilliant author who brings in new perspectives and unique ideas to her storytelling. She always has well written, strong characters. And if you're looking for these qualities in a female character, this is the author to look to for it.

This is a book for kids. And very short. Too expensive. It is not bad. But not worth the money

plaigiarism
An exciting read, I was out there running with the girl. I found the style comfortable, the pace steady, unrushed. This book was plaigiarised to make a slow, boring film. We all know the name of it, but I won't name it here out of respect for an author whose writing surpasses excellence.Five stars is not enough.
