Great optics at such a reasonable price!
After using my Gigapenguin 15X52 binoculars for several weeks now, I felt that a more thorough explanation of my experience with these binoculars was called for.The Gigapenguin 15X52 binoculars is an obviously high quality optical device that delivers extremely sharp, bright images in all conditions. I’m a consumer products designer by trade and I was very impressed with the design and construction of the device. Generally, more reasonably priced devices like this are nowhere as solidly constructed. The case wall thickness is very robust and the heft of the device gives the new owner great confidence in a long term “relationship”. They are definitely a "2 hand” type of device. At a price that most people could afford for “pro-sumer” level optics, the issue of weight vs. optical power is a given. I can say that these binoculars are definitely NOT a candidate for being carried in one’s pocket. The soft injection molded foam eye cups are extremely comfortable and cushion my eye sockets very well. Having tried many other devices like this over the years, I found that I was generally not very satisfied with the comfort of the device against my face, much less a superior ability to “zoom in” for long distance images.Adding to my challenge to find a better quality device at a reasonable price was the fact that eyes are corrected to “mono vision” which can be a challenge for some devices BUT this pair does work extremely well. Monovision means that one eye is corrected to one prescription while the other eye is corrected to a different prescription. The challenge for me is that I am forced to depend on my brain “melding” the two visual images to form one clear image. Not understanding the finer points of optics, I was very impressed with my ability to see thru the Gigapenguin binocs as well as I do.My only suggestion as to how to achieve the very best binocular experience using these is that a tripod (not included) would make the viewing experience absolutely perfect. As one fixes on a distant target, the binoculars, being a solidly constructed as they are, are more challenging to hold stable……a tripod would address this issue and please keep in mind that ANY 15X52 binoculars will be similarly challenged.A point about the weight: while one should never drop the binoculars, especially on a hard surface, the construction of the binocs feels like it would survive an accidental stumble. I should know because I confess to having dropped them on our hard wood floor. I won’t make that mistake again but I mention it as a warning. High power binoculars are by their very nature, heavier than pocket size devices. I suggest using the included straps when using the device, just in case. I do the same thing when using my digital camera…….why take a chance? We live in an area overflown by both commercial and military aircraft and one of my “hobbies” is running outside when I hear the engine sound to identify the aircraft type. The higher in altitude the aircraft in question is, the harder it is to maintain the image in a stable manner w/o some minor movement in my hands. These binoculars are very substantial and definitely NOT lightweight, which makes the use of a tripod almost mandatory. While not the lightest binoculars that I’ve ever owned, the performance is so good that the weight is a reasonable trade-off. Helping your ability to securely hold the device, the molded-in hand grips are really comfortable to hold as long as you keep your expectations reasonable, again given the weight. The product is packed out with a really nice fitted nylon carrying case with straps, a lens cleaning cloth and protective caps for both ends. The instruction booklet included is well written and a help to the new user………read it once, at least, before you take the binoculars out to use. This binoculars also includes a cell phone clip BUT I didn’t purchase the device to use a cell phone with the binoculars so will not comment on how useful this feature might be.I’m looking forward to years of trouble free use!

Very easy to use, quick to adjust.
I bought these binoculars for my wife, as a way to interest her in astronomy; watching the Moon and planets, these are handy to walk around with and quickly use to view the sky.The binoculars are relatively lightweight, good quality, and very sturdy. All in all, a very good purchase and satisfying as a gift. The optics are clear, and I would unhesitatingly recommend these binoculars to anyone else.

Almost a complete winner
The media could not be loaded. This my 2nd set of bino's. My old pair still functioning since 1980... 12x50, field 288 at 1000 yrds. Bought this new pair primarily for the camera attachment. So, the Good, the Bad, the disappointment!Disappointment: Phone attachment is useless, frustrating piece of... Nothing more than a sales enhancement ploy! Struggled every which way and could not effectively get a half way clean visual! I have the iPhone 13 Pro Max and none of the three lens would center properly, at least not good enough for a poor photo! After a half hour of fiddling with it I gave up! So if your plans are to take this in the field, forget it! Any game will be long gone or a still pict of a landscape will be in the next season before it's set up for a disappointingly poor photo! The GOOD!... SOLID piece of equipment! Lighter than my old bino's and these look great! They have a nice matt green finish which is comfortable even in my big hands! The FANTASTIC!... OUTSTANDING CLARITY! My first glance I did a double, then triple take!... "No Way!"... Then at 165 yrds I'm reading a license plate with ease! Saw two doe & fawn this morning 120 yrds out, could have counted the spots on the fawn but she kept prancing around mom wanting to play! Can't say enough about this portion of the review. Quality and clarity-EXCELLENT!Now the dilemma... As mentioned, I bought these primarily to capture what I saw when glassing, and with this set up, I can't do it. Part of me wants to keep em' just because of the range and clarity. The other part of me is like, "What good are they if you can't capture the moment!".I brought out these points and thoughts so you know what you're getting. If I keep em', they're still worth the money. Just know that the clip on phone attachment isn't worth the space it takes to ship it! It simply doesn't function as advertised! One more thing, the carry case could be about a half inch bigger as the velcroe closure doesn't match when the carry straps are attached! Very poor/lame design! Why have a case if you can't close it! Hope this helps. -MikePS... One more thing... There is NO tri-pod attachment or 1/4" threaded hole for any sort of adapter. They don't advertise one, but just in case you were wondering, there's nothing there, strickly hand held bino's.
