Monarch Specialties , Bookcase, Ladder with 2-Storage Drawers, White, 69"H

This bookshelf is great. It's beautiful and well constructed. I would know because I constructed it myself. While I am completely satisfied and had few issues, I do not recommend this to anyone who has never built prefab furniture before. If IKEA makes your heart tremble in fear, don't buy this bookshelf. Seriously, 21 board types, plus hardware letters a-z+a1 &a2I love IKEA, personally, and have built most of the furniture in my house. So for me, the fact that the directions don't give you a clear indication of which way the drawer tracks should be mounted, was not a problem. If you have experience putting together furniture, you'll have a lovely bookshelf in about 3 episodes of Jane the Virgin.This bookshelf was well packaged with reinforcements at the corners of the boxes and I had no damaged pieces. The boards are all labeled with a red stamped number so finding the right piece is easy. The hardware is packaged in individual plastic baggie compartments - however these are not labeled so use a sharpie so you don't have to keep looking back at the inventory.Parts are clearly labeled in the pictograph instructions.Overall, I am very pleased.

Had previously purchased the white Monarch office desk and loved it so decided to buy the bookcase as well. The reviews on the desk made it clear that even professionals had some difficulty so paid someone to out it together. However, my handyman wasnt available for this project so I decided to tackle it myself. Trust the reviews on this one. This one is hard to assemble unnecessarily. I actually enjoy putting furniture together, but when I opened the box I was instantly overwhelmed. It had at least 30 peices, but this turned out to not be a major set back. Most of them were numbered or easily identifiable. But the screws, bolts, etc were a mess. There are plenty and although the parts list had them lettered there were no corresponding letters on the actual packaging. 3 or 4 sets of screws with 2/8th difference in length was not the easiest to distinguish but I guess why they printed a ruler on the instructions. I can't say it is the best quality. There are definitely a few mishaps that I had to strategically cover up. I was watching a movie while putting it together but it probably took me about 3.5 hours. Too long in my book, but like the bookcase.

This bookshelf is perfect for my home office. I was concerned because I felt like the box was really beaten up and torn open when it was delivered but the packaging inside protected it and left it undamaged. My husband is not too handy but was able to put it together without any issues. The quality is good but not great. I wish it was a little more sturdy but overall I'm very happy with the look and extra storage.

When reading other reviews mentioning the difficult assembly I naively thought it wouldn’t be that rough. Wow, was I wrong.I recently moved and put together all the furniture (mostly from Ikea) in under 2 hours. Like, the entire bedroom in under 2 hours. This shelf unit took me over 3 hours to build.First, you’re given multiple unlabeled bags of parts. There are several different sizes of screws and you’ll have to measure them to make sure you get the right screw. After I measured the screws I set them in separate piles and labeled them so I wouldn’t have to stop and measure every time. Also, the screws don’t go in flush so expect them to stick out a little. It’s not obvious in the end result, but as you build the unit it makes you question if you measured the screws correctly.Second, while each board is labeled/stamped with a number, the number isn’t always clear. I’m my case board 11 wasn’t clear and looked like board 1.Third, the instructions were clearly xerox copies and very faint in some parts making it more difficult.The end result is a lovely bookshelf and I’m enjoying it very much. I just plan to never take it apart.

I was really surprised by the quality of this bookshelf! I think it looks even better in person than it does in pictures. Also, the addition of drawers is awesome. I have extra storage room now! For the price, I don't think you can do better.Assembling can be confusing, but everything is marked by a number. If you follow the steps carefully, there should not be any issues. All in all, it took me about 3 hours to assemble it (with breaks).

The ladder book shelf is absolutely beautiful and really good quality. The pieces matched up perfectly. The only thing I would say that can be better are the directions, there weren’t any words, only pictures. It took me three hours to put it together by my self. I also had to put it together upright because I knew I was to small to lift it off the floor. But it came out great, and it’s very functional.
