Great Product - Remember this is for the hardware only
this is not for your standard home user.If you want to use this for your home you need to understand deeper levels of networking.with that out of the way, the product is fantastic. a bunch of the devices (printer, NAS, security cameras) on my network i do not wish to have ANY contact with the internet. I easily configured them that way.I can use my web domain and my security certificates to securely connect to my network and then access my NAS etc. my old router has the ability to VPN into it, but the levels of security were laughable compared to this product.other devices on my network have various levels of access to the internet but it is highly controlled. I must stress that this blocking/access control behavior is part of the product and DOES NOT need to purchase any of the additional support services.if you want to be able to use the web filtering, antivirus, DNS filtering etc you do need to purchase the reoccurring costs of the support services.the level of logging and details of your network operation, performance and activity is amazing.is this overkill for a home network? probably, but if you have kids, it is much easier to control access to online materials on a device specific manner. you want to block facebook for your kids, but you still want to access facebook? configure your child's device to be the one who cannot access facebook. it logs websites visited so you could better see what your kids are up to etc.

Appeared to be used
Received the Fortinet without the outer box. IT was shipped in the inner clamshell box. It had a label put on it, not taped closed. We opened it up and the license to the device to be updated t the latest firmware had already expired. We were not able to perform any testing. It was purchased for that reason. We are going to try to test to replace the routers we are using and were hoping this would be a solution.

A Powerful Defence Machine
I was very satisfied with this Fortwifi 30e. It has more functions than I need as a home user. I have used the SSL inspection and virus filtration without noticeable delay in viewing content. It is a quite complicate firewall. The graphic user interface (GUI) did help to get started quickly but I needed the command line interface (CLI) to fine tune the firewall. The documentation is ample. Fortigate has officially a handbook and a cookbook. I found some explanations in the handbook not so self-explaining and I had to seek help somewhere. The examples in the cookbook offered useful hints but they were not comprehensive. Fortunately, I could find most answers in the forums of the internet. I have spent one whole week to study the documentation and experiment with the settings in order to make sure that the firewall was properly set.I found Fortiwifi worth spending money and effort on it.

NOT BUNDLED WITH SUBSCRIPTION
Beware! False advertising on this listing (this is not a review of the Fortinet product itself, which is excellent)! Despite the pictures on this listing, this is *NOT* bundled with the Fortiguard/Forticare subscription - this is only the hardware itself, and BuyVPC will tell you you need to purchase the subscription separately.
