Roger Murtaugh (Danny Glover) is a family man cop who is about to turn fifty. Cautious by nature, he is less than happy to be paired with Martin Riggs (Mel Gibson) when he is assigned to investigate Californian drug baron 'The General' (Mitchell Ryan). Following the death of his wife, Riggs has become a manic loner who no longer cares whether he lives or dies; an approach which causes more than a few problems as he and Murtaugh attempt to bring the General to justice.

Great movie ...Classic
Love this film, mel gibson is great in this and plays Riggs in a believable way .....the sequels in my opinion are not so good and almost become comedic in a fashion....they lose their edge. This on the other hand is a gritty cop movie where you have a cop with an edge...he doesn't care whether he lives or dies!!! Great film

Action packed as always with Mel Gibson, Good supporting roles from Danny Glover, Gary Busey and Mitchell Ryan, who is normally associated with Clint Eastwood movies. Magnum Force, High Plains Drifter etc.

A Big Hit in 1987; many re-Releases.
Lethal Weapon (1987,Theatrical Version.) 1 Disc Blu Ray. *Region 2 only *, so will not play outside Region 2, unless you have multi-region playback. English language only; NO SUBTITLES. Plain disc menu: the film, some deleted scenes (one of which is in the film) & Theatrical Trailer. When the film begins, the Warner Bros ident is grainy, but the film scenes I played, due to time constraints due the Mrs marathoning her broadcast TV series. * Upscaled well on our SONY WF66 43" TV; as well on the sturdy Panasonic DMP-BTP180 4K UPSCALING Blu Ray player (See my reviewes on Amazon UK, and amazon.de respectively.) The music score by Michael James is very good, especially the North Hollywood boulevard chase track, so I will be watching the escape and chase, again, on my Surround Plate. The deleted scenes do not include the playground shouting to death of a sniper, by Riggs, in the Directors Cut - which is available on Blu Ray if you search for an expensive box set of assorted action/thriller films, and look for "Lethal Weapon Directors Cut", in the description. I no longer own the D.Cut DVD, and can live without it. * The bar fight originally filmed as the beginning of the film is also NOT in this Blu Ray version Extras, apart from about 2 seconds in the Theatrical trailer; NOR the Directors Cut. But, due to pressure, it is in some releases of Lethal Weapon 4 DVD extras, so check, if possible. Not impressive, and certainly not on a par with Steven Seagals' bar brawling in Out for Justice(1991); nor in On Deadly Ground (1994), with popular bad guy Mike Star agreeing to spar with Steve "the cupcake", nor even in the Chinese restaurant fight, in another cop buddies film, The Glimmer Man (1996); which films I seem to remember are no longer subject to BBFC cuts. * Overall good cinematography, editing by Stuart Baird, & action choreography, best watched loud with a good Hi-Fi Surround Sound system for the shooting, especially at Mr. Joshua, sniping in his helicopter; and Michael Kamen's music. * A very nice Sub-£2.00 deal, "Used Good Condition" from MOMOX (delivery by EU postal service; delivery times vary from days to weeks) on the Amazon UK app - our main go to provider of bargain priced, good quality, used DVD's & Blu Ray. Condition as described; no damages to the case, sleeve or disc. 4 🌟 for Momox, 3 🌟 for as no subtitles. (Lethal Weapon 5 in production, for release in 2023/24, with Gibson and Glover retuning as Riggs and Murtaugh.)

Blu-ray version
I,m not going to review the film itself,I think everyone knows the "storyline",if your looking for sheer entertainment, this is it,definitely up there with the Die Hard films,IMO.The blu-ray transfer is very good, for a film from the 80,s,sharp and clear,BUT,my criticism of this blu-ray version has nothing to do with the transfer,it has to do with the version itself.WHY is the Director,s Cut available on standard dvd,but not on blu-ray????I think we all recognise the blu-ray format as the BEST for Home Cinema,so why release the theatrical version on blu-ray when the Director,s Cut is available??????I realise I,m probably nitpicking here, but I,m thinking,Lethal Weapon Director,s Cut coming soon to blu-ray,more of our "bucks" to be had????If not having the extended version doesn,t bother you too much, then this blu-ray is a very good quality transfer,imo.Davy,Scotland.
