Cygolite Seat Post Mount for Hypershot, Hotshot Pro, and Hotshot Bicycle Taillight Series with Hard Mounts

Like many others, my flexible mount broke on my 2nd ride. I reached out to Cygolite customer service who was super unhelpful in helping me find a replacement mount. So I took a gamble on this despite some reviews saying it doesn't work with the odd mount on the 200. They are correct in the slide in mount is for a different Hotshot model, but if you remove it the Hotshot 200 mounts right up. Light is good, new mount is good, Cygolite customer service needs some work. Update 10/14/20 - Cygolite reached back out and provided the replacement part to make my flexible mount usable again, free of charge. However, having ridden with this light for 72 miles over nasty terrain with zero issues; I still prefer the new fixed mount.

With the tendency of slopping top tubes, this is great for mounting a light on the seatpost instead of a carbon seat stay. It will clear most seat bags used for general day riding.

Works for holding tail light as expected. Position stays where set. Easy to remove light when needed.

This has a design flaw. It can't be made to point straight back unless the angle of your seat post lines up with the teeth in the pivot. The way the pivot point works is it has notches on both sides that fit together to keep the pivot from moving when it's tightened down. This creates a problem. On one notch the light is aimed a little up. On the next notch down it's aimed too far down. For a light like the Hotshot that this is made for that's a HUGE problem. The light is VERY directed straight back. So if the beam is aimed even a little up or a little down, it's useless from a distance because it's aimed at the road or up at the sky. If your seat tube is the perfect angle, great. But if it's not, this is a bad design for the Cygolite Hotshot This is a direct factory replacement for the mount that comes with the Hotshot. If you want a replacement for a broken mount or need a second mount so you can transfer your light between bikes, this is what you want. If the original works, this one will work. Just know that the Hotshot needs to be directed straight back or it looses it's value as a highly directly light beam.

My bike was stolen but my light was charging. So there I was with a light and now way to attach it to my new bike. I was thrilled to find this part. The light snaps right in and doesn't move at all. Very sturdy and a perfect fit.

This seat post mount is exactly what I needed for a new bike, so I can swap my tail light back and forth without buying an entire second unit. I had tried another source, which advertised this same mount, but it came with only the light receiver, and not the clamp ... deceptive advertising! Learned my lesson.

This taillight adapter is so narrow. Although I managed to tighten a little at the far end of the screw, seemed that it is very unstable and may drop off if cycling on uneven surfaces or gravel biking.
