Very good buy.
A very good value this level-entry laptop. Very responsive and fast.I was pleased to find that there was not a bundle of software to install just the right amount. I bought a Toshiba SatelliteC50 A 19 it was brilliant but when I sold it took over two hours to do 'Factory Reset' too much software loaded installed. This laptop is really easy to use even for the novice, with really good pre-installed documentation available at a click of a mouse. Great keyboard toonice and soft, smooth and it looks great.I also have a Lenovo Yoga 10.1" tablet that I bought just before last Christmas which is excellent. I had an iPad Mini 7.9 inch and it was rubbish - over priced, over rated and over hyped - the iPad clearly had superior hardware but very poor expandability and could not be upgraded. And £50 more. It never even had an SDHC card slot. I have a Mac too but Apple just made plenty of money on the new iPhone 6 recently and theyare not getting any of mine.I work in the ICT industry as a technician I fix computers all the time and I would highly recommend this laptop to anyone who is a beginner or novice.I like the Lenovo VeriFace Pro Face software very clever bit of software. Very cool. I also have a Lenovo ThinkPad T60 with the biometric finger print feature and that was pretty cool. This is Star Trek cool.

Good functionality and easy to navigate around - free upgrade ...
Good functionality and easy to navigate around - free upgrade to Windows 10 appreciated. Build of laptop itself flimsy compared with the old thinkpad forerunners of this product but much cheaper too and lighter to carry. Screen resolution for me very good but I have not tried to play any music or films yet so cannot comment on the sound quality.

When The Bloat Comes In
My Dad wanted a cheap replacement for his aging and creeking Toshiba. I did intend to get him an Acer Aspire ES1-512 15.6-inch Notebook (Black) - (Intel Celeron N2840 2.16GHz, 4GB RAM, 500GB HDD, LAN, WLAN, Integrated Graphics, Windows 8.1 ) as we got this laptop a couple of months back and have been thrilled with its performance and value for money. Unfortunately, that item seems to have been discontinued and he didn't really want to purchase from a third party seller particularly when the price was £50 more than the G50. In the end it was a toss-up between this and an Asus and he decided to go for this one.As I work in IT it was fairly straightforward to set up, but again Lenovo let themselves down with the enormous amount of bloatware that they load onto their new machines. This is particularly true of the infamous Superfish utility which set the alarm bells off in AVG from the get go. The PC itself can be setup within half an hour or so, and it only takes that amount of time due to Windows setting itself up, etc. I spent longer than that removing all the superfluous Lenovo utilities. I recommend installing CCCleaner and a good virus guard; AVG Free was great in flagging up all the bloatware that I'd missed.Once all that is out of the way the machine itself is very good. The keyboard is responsive, the screen is nice and bright and displays colours well. As it has 8.1 pre-installed it now boots directly to the desktop without having to mess around in the settings. My Dad has this sited in his backroom in his flat - the router is in his living room - and I noticed that the wifi reception is a lot weaker compared to that creeking Toshiba, so that's something to take note of. However, it works perfectly though and he doesn't experienced any connection outages, etc.Within days he contacted me as he had received the messages regarding Windows 10, good to know that the new operating system is being rolled out free from July 29th.All-in-all, this is a great value laptop and is more than adequate for surfing, emailing and banking which is really all my Dad does on his laptop. Once I had gotten rid of all the bloat I was surprised how well it performed considering its modest price.Get rid of the rubbish and you'll have yourself a nice little performer.

Perfect for the casual home user
I was always reticent to purchase a Lenovo because that's the make of my work laptop. I never did get on with that thing and thought that was a reflection of Lenovo. This laptop had exactly the specs I was after, at a low price, so I figured I would give it a try. I realise now that it's not Lenovo's fault that my work laptop is a slow, unwieldy behemoth, but rather my employer's for restricting so much of it and bloating so much of the rest. This is a great little laptop, perfect for casual home use. Mine is used mostly for streaming, such as netflix and Amazon Prime (shout out to Amazon) and it does a great job. I use a second screen, stream onto one and work on the other and the laptop handles this without issue or latency. I can't comment on high intensity gaming, etc, as I haven't tried this, but for the average user this has coped with everything I have thrown at it so far. Recommended!

Lenovo's Quality Control Must Have Been Asleep!
After uninstalling the dreaded Silverfish which took less than a minute, I then began to start using it. It took all of a minute to realise that this laptop is very poor quality. The keyboard just flexes terribly and also the keys had a life of their own. It was returned immediately.I must say that Amazon have a faultless returns policy. If your looking for a cheap, well built, quick laptop with excellent battery life then choose the Acer ES1-512 instead, it is just brilliant for the same price.

Pretty decent.
Pretty good, but I should've known without the dedicated graphics it can hardly play a youtube video without having a small heart attack.Other than that I bought it to mainly work on and check emails when I'm travelling so it does the job well for the cheap price. :)
