easy
It's not more difficult than to measure blood sugar for example, so it's straightforward enough so anybody can take this test. It's hard to say about the accuracy but as mine was negative and I don't feel like my iron is low(I can get that but usually I feel different, not like now) so it seems accurate, but it's not like you can actually see the numbers, just positive or negative. All in all it can be a good indication and the price is reasonable

very faint second line
When awaiting the result, if the cassette shows 1 line next to C, it’s a negative result, so your iron levels are below what’s normal, but if there’s 2 lines then you’re good, however the second line is so faint on the result we did, so not sure whether that was a positive or negative.

Simple to use but inaccurate information makes me question its validity
This is a review for the Berkeley Health Ferritin Home Test Kit for Anaemia. It comes in cardboard outer packaging. The kit includes:* An instruction leaflet in English, German, French and Arabic.* A test cassette (like a lateral flow test or pregnancy test)* Some test solution* Two lancets* A mini-pipette* An alcohol swab for cleaning the test siteThe procedure was easy to follow. You warm your hand, clean the skin, use the lancet (ouch!), use the pipette to collect the blood via capillary action, drop the sample onto the cassette, add two drops of the test solution 5 seconds apart, then wait five minutes for a result. In my case, I have received a "positive" result with only a control line (no test line) confirming that my ferritin levels are low. This is in keeping with my expectations, though I can't give details of my medical history without breaching review guidelines. This does not confirm that the test is accurate, only that the result that I received seems to fit with my circumstances. So, buyer beware!I was glad that the information provided stated that following a positive test, a person should seek medical advice rather than just starting iron supplementation. However, I was a bit baffled by their statement that the test should not be done in the case of acute inflammation as this might lead to a false positive test (i.e. may falsely suggest iron levels are low even when they aren't). While it is true that ferritin results may be impacted by inflammation (and hence I delayed doing the test while I was suffering from a nasty cold), it is actually in the opposite direction. Ferritin is an acute phase protein and rises with acute inflammation, so the test is more likely to be a false negative (i.e. suggest iron levels are adequate) in the context of inflammation. This error makes me question the competence of the company providing the test and makes me more doubtful about its quality and accuracy. It may just be a transcription or translation error, but it is still concerning.I might consider a home test kit to check my ferritin levels again in future. However, I will probably be looking for a brand with accurate information rather than using this one again.

Easy to take but only pass/fail result and can be hard to read
This works just like those lateral flow tests we're all used to now, except it takes a drop of blood instead of a nasal swab (and as a result you may end up with a slightly sore finger for a few days).About one drop of blood is required, and the tiny pipette draws the correct amount automatically. You then simply squeeze the pipette onto the test cassette and add two drops of the provided solution. The result is ready in five minutes.I found mine quite hard to read, however. There was a line there, and it was very faint. I had also hoped this test might give some idea of iron levels, but it's a pass/fail only (note: good ferritin levels are when you see a second coloured band on the test cassette and the instructions call this a "negative" result because they are testing for "low iron", not "adequate iron"!). The level it tests for is 30ng/ml, which is the accepted minimum level for serum ferritin. The price right now doesn't seem unreasonable, and if you want to check your iron levels aren't abnormally low this is an affordable and easy test to take.

Useful test and great value
This review is for the Berkeley Health Ferritin Home Test Kit for Anaemia | Detect Iron Deficiency in Human Fingerstick Blood | Fast & 96.6% Accurate | Easy to Follow Self Test Kit | 1 Test.I like finger prick tests, they provide rapid, convenient testing options for those wanting to gain understanding of their health status. This test was easy to complete, I had everything I needed to determine if my Serum Ferritin levels indicated Iron-deficiency anaemia (< 30 ng/mL) or not. I will recommend my nutrition clients complete this test if they have any indication of low ferritin. At £6.49, this home test is great value.

Easy to use
This kit is very well prepared with easy instructions to follow. Everything was sterile and well packed. You just have to prick your finger with the little implement supplied (they send 2), put the pipette up to your drop of blood and it automatically sucks it into it. You then add your blood to the test kit, add two drops of the solution they include and in 5 minutes you have your result. I am pleased to say that my Ferritin levels aren't low!I can't fault this kit at all.

Easy to use
Good instruction. Very clear and easy to follow. No problems really except it took me a while to get enough blood. I have been low in ferritin in the past and feel all the symptoms and the test clearly came back with just the control line and nothing under the test so assume I am low again. Not sure if I’ll bother with the doctor to confirm but assume it is correct. Would buy again. A good price to confirm or deny suspicions.
