Just when I was convinced I had everything figured out… nope. Not even close. This book is fast, twisty, and completely addictive. The tension keeps building, the clues keep shifting, and every time you think you’re one step ahead, the story pulls the rug out from under you. I genuinely could not put it down, and the reveals had me sitting there like 😳 staring at the wall afterward. It’s one of those thrillers that leaves your jaw on the floor and makes you want to immediately talk about it — without spoiling it for anyone else. Freida McFadden is incredible. It has that totally Freida way of convincing you it's all too obvious... only to pull the rug out from under you with an unexpected twist. I always find her books to be quick, fun, easy, and light reads that pack a twisty punch at the finish.

Loved the twists!
I'm a huge Frieda McFadden fan, I just purchased several more of her books in my latest book haul. 'Never Lie,' kept me enthralled every night I picked it up! She is famous for her twists & I really liked these twists & turns! I thought "EJ" was the husband, and the Novel kept us guessing right until the end! Awesome read! I would absolutely read a follow-up story about Ethan & Tricia.

Spoiler Alert: Not a good plot twist
I’ve read about 10 Frieda McFadden books so far, and I think that everyone can agree that The Housemaid was her best work — which is probably why that book was turned into a movie. But the reason that that book was so good is that McFadden actually plays fair with the audience. In most of her other books, including Never Lie, she doesn’t play fair with the audience. Sure, they’ll still fun to read, but they’re always disappointing because she tricks the audience in an unfair way. SPOILER ALERT: In Never Lie, she goes far beyond the “unreliable narrator” trick that she uses in 95% of her books, and in this book, the narrator is just a complete liar for the vast majority of the book. That’s not a plot twist, that’s just bad writing. Anybody on the planet can write a book like this, because at the very end, all you have to say is “Just kidding! Everything I’ve told you about myself is a lie! Here’s the truth!” It’s the equivalent of “everything was just a dream this entire time”. Frieda McFadden may want to look into the literary concept of “superior positioning”, which is something she never ever ever uses. Frieda only knows from the literary concept of “SURPRISE!”, but the more effective literary tool is “superior positioning”… where the reader knows something that the characters don’t, and the reader is horrifyingly sitting on the edge of their seats while they wait for the characters to find out what the reader already knows. But Frieda always keeps audience members in the dark — and then unfairly tricks them at the end by pulling the rug out from under their feet. If Frieda used superior positioning instead, she would be a much better writer and it would result in much better books.

Twisty, shocking and unputdownable
Never Lie completely captivated me. I did not see the plot twist coming at all, and when I found out, I literally gasped.

Best thriller
I figured Tricia was actually Patricia but the plot was so perfectly executed and well written that I was like OMG the entire book. Frieda really is an amazing writer.

My Predictions were Wrong
My predictions were wrong and normally that doesn’t happen. I have a weird knack for guessing plots down to specific lines and I was truly stumped this time. It was a great and terrifying read.

Never Lie was such a gripping read! I thoroughly enjoyed it and truly didn’t know what to expect. It’s definitely one of my favourite Freida McFadden books so far. The twist at the end was huge and really caught me off guard—I loved the shock factor, though I did wish there had been a few more subtle hints or “easter eggs” sprinkled throughout the story to build up to it. I’m always a fan of the forced proximity trope, so the premise instantly drew me in, and it delivered exactly the tense, claustrophobic atmosphere I was hoping for. Overall, an addictive read that kept me turning the pages right until the end.
