This single volume contains all 16 of Beethoven's String Quartets and the Grosse Fuge, Opus 133, photographically reprinted from the original Breitkopf & Hartel, Leipzig printed scores. I have bought a few of Dover's more recently reprinted music scores such as this and considering the affordability of these editions all have been of clear, good quality and professional lay flat sewn-binding. The printing of this edition is as expected relatively clear and bold, of course like most of the Dover editions, due to the cheaper quality paper, the printing is not as bold as it could be, but it is still perfectly easy to read and study. I would highly recommend to buy this edition to anyone wishing to obtain and study all of Beethoven's String Quartets in one strongly bound volume.

I've had this book for many years. It is marvellous value - all the 16 quartets for a very low price - and is extremely well-made, printed clearly on good paper, stitched not glued and therefore robust, so that you can open it wide and photocopy single pages (as I have often done). In other words, big and quite heavy as it is, it stands up to use very well. The edition is not modern - these are copies of an old Breitkopf and Hartel edition from long ago - but unless you need the ultimate in modern scholarship, which I imagine would be very expensive (I see the current price on Amazon for the Jonathan del Mar Barenreiter edition of the 3 Rasumovsky quartets is £15.08 - almost as much as this version of all 16), it's fine Very highly recommended.
