Solved my issue and helped grow a stronger nail
I got these over the winter because my closed-toe dress shoes have a narrow toe box, and that causes my toenail to grow into my skin. If you slide the shim down the edge of the toenail and into place and slightly rotate it, it will settle between your nail’s edge and your nail bed. Trim the top with clippers to meet the top of your nail. It should stay in place like this long enough for your nail to grow past it and properly. Then, you can take it off. I wore mine for two full weeks including at my gym nights. I had to replace the one on my other toe once, but it was usually secure without issue. These really help and I came back to write a positive review because I have been so happy with them. Few things have allowed my toe nail to grow properly and alleviate the pain, so I’m glad I found these.

Waste of money!!
I have been having the biggest problem with ingrown toenails so I was so hopeful that this product would be the answer. But it wasn’t. Sigh. To put the little plastic spacer things between my toenail and my skin was almost impossible. As I was trying to make that work, I was moving around so the TINY container of the see through spacers flew all over the room. So now I couldn’t even see the spacers to even try to pick them all up. Sooooo frustrating! Not helpful. And ended up in the garbage.

Painful and Not Sensory Friendly, but Optimistic About Results
3/9/2025: I replaced these two days ago. The skin is still tender, but it doesn’t hurt as bad and is looking less inflamed but not by much yet. Replacing the product did not hurt as bad as putting the first one in. I could also push them in farther and set them more securely this go around. For sensory issues: I never got to a point where I couldn’t feel it as stated in the ad, but the sensory input and pain did go down with time. I’m hoping I will continue to get desensitized. I will update in a few days when I replace them again. ORIGINAL REVIEW: 3/4/2025: **DISCLAIMER** I recently bought these and only put them on about nine hours ago, so I’m not sure how effective they will be, but I will update my review in a few days. For now, I would like to focus *only* on the application of the product. Negatives: Firstly, please be aware that this is not pain-free as stated in the ad. Like other reviewers have mentioned, rubbing *anything* up against an inflamed area is going to hurt, and this is even more true since you’re rubbing something against *the most irritated spot* in the inflamed area. It was silly of them to make that claim to begin with. It was very painful for me to put these in. I could possibly see that it wouldn’t be so bad if you were to install them while the area is not so inflamed for the purpose of prevention, but who is using these except for those who are struggling with an active ingrown toenail? Secondly, it says that you shouldn’t be able to feel it once installed, but this has not been true for me so far, and I have a feeling that it will be the same for many other neurodivergent folks with sensory issues. I know a couple of previous reviewers said it was fine, even though they also have sensory issues, but obviously, everyone is different, so I feel it’s important for folks to know that it *is* a possibility that you won’t like how this feels. I can definitely feel them and ever since I put them on, I’ve been walking a bit like a dog that’s been forced to wear shoes for the first time. If it gets better, I will include that in my update. Thirdly, these came loose very easily for me. Per instructions, I pushed them in as far as they would go and then cut them down as closely to my nail bed as I could without cutting skin. They still got caught on things, which not only hurt, but also ended up wasting products because they’re impossible to find once they’ve come loose. I had to go through four replacements before I finally had to very very loosely wrap some bandaids around my toes to act as a shield to keep them from getting caught on anything. Neutral : I can’t decide if this is a positive or a negative, but the plastic (or “gel,” as it’s listed in the ad) that these are made out of is flexible. In the ad, that aspect is listed as a positive because it’s better for mobility when walking, but I would think that a slightly tougher plastic wouldn’t necessarily restrict mobility and might be more effective in getting your toenail to straighten out, right? Also I don’t *need* mobility in my toenail, as it’s never in motion independent of the rest of my toe, so it seems like an odd thing to mention. This material may also have been why it was so easy for them to get caught on things. A stronger plastic may have held in place. As a positive side though, they were easy to maneuver once under the nail so I could get them at exactly the right angle and position I wanted them in. This did also make them easier to cut, but I don’t think a slightly harder plastic would have been too difficult. I suppose my opinion on this aspect will depend on how effective this turns out to be. Positives: Firstly, these definitely *seem* like they are going to work, which is really what’s most important at the end of the day. The metal tool was *extremely* helpful in maneuvering my toenail to get the plastic bits up under the nail and if I had know such a thing existed, I would have ordered it *ages ago*. Once they were in place, I could see exactly how these would be helpful for an ingrown toenail. With that in mind, I’m quite optimistic about the outcome. Secondly, this is the first time in a while that I’ve had something between my toenail and my skin. I’ve had recurrent ingrown toenails all my life due to the shape of my toes, so even though it still hurts and is a bit of a sensory nightmare, it is *extremely* satisfying to finally feel a barrier between my toenail and my skin. It’s a physical sensation similar to how it feels to change a bandage on a wound that’s still healing — it hurts before, during, and after, but once it’s done, it feels cleaner and you can tell it’s on the mend. Conclusion: All in all, this seems promising, so we’ll see how things turn out. I know you’re supposed to change them out every couple of days, so I’m not sure whether I’ll be seeing results at first, or if I’ll have to wait until I change it out a couple of times. Either way, I will update my review, and possibly my rating, in a few days.

I would not recommend!
You must have some sort of skill to put these bad boys on! Not easy to put on and they do not stay in place well! Would not recommend!

Believe or not it is working
I did buy this product for my husband painful ingrown nail. He did try a warm water with either salt, or oils, or cedar vinegar like 20 min 3 times a week. He did support the nail with the stuff you can buy in store. It is so painful so I said I will give it a try- well that plastic support is working , you need to know you should keep it in place for 5-7 days and repeat. This is a time for your nail to grow - it takes time. So you need to be patient and do not wait for miracles imidiately. Keep going, that is only answer get better. Cons? It hurts when you need to aplly it after warm bath, but there is a true hope it will be end of your suffering one day. My husband is so happy now, who have this problem you know if you sleeping it will wake you up and you don't know where you will put your feet and you are trying find some position not to feel pain. Be patient.

Seems to be working...2 weeks in and no pain and growing out as it's supposed too!

This thing is a disaster, and in my opinion, dangerous. I have really bad ingrown toenails, and figured I'd try this. The plastic insert was very difficult to insert. One of them broke, and the part that was inside the nail, would not come out. It turned my toenail black, because it was bleeding underneath. It took about a month for the broken piece to finally get forced out, and my toenail is just now, returning to it's normal colour.

I got this item however, it was not quite as help for for me as I thought. Nothing to do with the item other than it was difficult to use these tiny guards without pain. Again, this is only my experience. Transaction was excellent.

Amazing and simple solution for my toe and nail. This product provided immediate relief. I’ve been using it for a week, and I just want to say thank you for this invention. The tool is very easy to use — I didn’t need any extra tools or assistance. I simply applied it, and everything worked perfectly for me.

Very painful to put on, constantly wants to pop back out, every little shift against it causes more pain, like if you're wearing socks. That said it did correct the ingrown toenail, but it took forever and was a horrible, painful, prolonged experience. So while the product can do what it says, there are a lot better, less painful ways to correct it in my opinion. I personally would not buy this again.
