This Hypath set is the best carry-on luggage you could ever hope to find!
I have traveled throughout Europe and Asia, my luggage of choice being (overpriced) Tumi and Travelpro. But all my luggage is now 20+ years or older, so I was due for a change. As is my habit, before purchase I always research the heck out of anything I buy nowadays. After hours of research I ended up purchasing this Hypath 2-in-1 Transformer travel backpack, 2-piece luggage set. Bottom Line First: I made an EXCELLENT choice.Pros:- Measurements: I wanted a combo set where the main bag measured within the current dimensions for carry-on bags on most airlines. Additionally, I needed for the attached/removable personal item (backpack) to fit under the front passenger seat. This set was exactly what I wanted (which wasn't a surprise considering Hypath's product description emphasized these features and measurements). In regards to measurements, another plus of the main pack, it DOES NOT have side pockets. This is important because in 2025 some airlines are now measuring luggage INCLUDING THE SIDE POCKETS, meaning that while your actual bag may meet the airline's size restrictions, it may be too large if the airline includes the side pockets in the measurement! Yikes! Also in terms of size restrictions, I appreciate that Hypath designed the main pack NOT to have any protrusions external to the bags main proportions. I will suffer less stress knowing that nothing external will prevent this bag from passing an airline's size restrictions.- Although I wanted a two-wheeled rolling pack, I wanted the option of using the main bag as a backpack (picture me making a fast getaway, where rolling a bag would slow me down). Most important, the backpack straps had to be stowable because loose straps are a hassle to deal with when putting the pack in an overhead bin.I was extremely impressed with the way Hypath designed the zippered panel, behind which the backpack straps can be stowed; e.g., the zipper is beefy, the panel that touches your back has thick pads, and deploying/stowing the straps can be done within seconds.- As we all know, the bane of wheeled luggage is that the wheels on many brands seem like an afterthought or that's one area where some manufacturers cut corners to save on production costs. Inevitably, under stress cheap shoddy wheels fall apart. And functionally the wheels are too small, don't roll well on rough surfaces, are noisy, and/or are too low to the ground. It appears Hypath was aware of traveler complaints (e.g., wheel weak points) so the Company designed and engineered this Hypath's two wheels to not suffer from these problems or issues.Side note: I appreciate that this bag's two wheels are spaced far apart; this configuration prevents the bag from losing its balance, especially when I have 14 minutes to sprint to a connecting flight that leaves in 10 minutes.- Weight: As experienced travelers know, the lighter the luggage the flimsier it will be. In contrast, sturdier luggage is really heavy. Hypath solved this problem by making this set not too light, but not too heavy. I am happy with the total empty weight of the two backpacks. IMO it is kinda in the middle weight-wise, resulting in one being able to cram more stuff inside without violating an airline's weight limitations.- Sturdiness: Although at $280 U.S. this set is mid-priced, the build quality of every component looks to be on par with sets costing two to three times as much. On my close examination every component looks to be made to last for many years of use and abuse (e.g., fabric handles/straps; metal telescopic handle; heavy duty zippers; thick, but light, fabrics; rubber "tires;" wheel mounts and bearings; thick plastic undercarriage - with beefy anti-tilt stabilizers; and everything that goes click or snap).- Redundancy: That's what I call it, when a system has backups, and then more backups. Regarding this pack, there's not just one handle, not two, not three, but four total. Looking at the front of the main pack there's a grab strap at 9, 12, and 3 o'clock, and at 6 o'clock (the bottom of the pack) there's a thick ballistic nylon (?) handle. What this means, in a hurry you can quickly grab the main pack.Another redundant feature: If you over-stuffed the main pack to where if feels the bag might burst open, even though the zippers are heavy duty, that's not a worry because Hypath put four heavy duty buckled (snap) straps at the front of the pack (two each on the right and left sides). What that means, even if your bag bursts open, those containing straps may keep the pack closed.Cons- I would have liked to have a warranty longer than two years. (But I understand that at the $280 price point for luggage, that will have to endure all manner of user abuse, it is financially impractical for a company to provide a longer-term warranty.)- It doesn't look like the wheels are user-replaceable. (On some sets I looked at the wheels can be replaced by the consumer.) But this wasn't a deal breaker for me, especially since the wheels look to be built to last for years, even after doing the 100 yard dash on an ancient-Rome cobblestone road, or slamming against every concrete curb at 5 MPH, and/or when this Hypath is being tossed around like a giant beach ball by baggage handlers.- Colors: Also not a deal breaker, but similar to what Henry Ford said about the 1908-1913 Model T automobile, "Any customer can order Hypath luggage in any color he or she wants, so long as it is black." Yeah, I would have liked to see some colors to choose from (as a military Veteran I'm partial to shades of military green or camel). But I can sleep at night even knowing the color of my Hypath luggage is black.Bottom line: I can proudly say I am now a FORMER Tumi/Travelpro user. That says it all.

Rolling backpack
Have used this a few times already. Have kept the two backpacks separate. Works well, when I’ve placed the smaller backpack on the trolley handle it’s heavy to pull through airports it’s heavy and the wheels are not 360 which gets old quick.

Worth every penny
Use for international travel. Usually check the roller bag when going overseas due to taking liquids to work. And use them both as carry on when traveling back home. Has held up good. Done made about ten trips so far with them. Also there are three other guys I work with have the same bags. No issues with theirs either. Highly recommend buying bright color rag or flag to attach to it when you check the bag, because I am seeing more and more of these in airports around the world.

Love thebnew premium Hypath 2-in-1 luggage
I own the older version of the 2-in-1 Hypath luggage set. We bought it to avoid checking our luggage on a 2 week trip to the Phillipines where we would be island hopping and also didn't want to be bogged down with a lot of heavy luggage. My husband chose to buy a big duffle bag for the trip and regretted not buying the Hypath when it arrived. He had a major case of luggage envy. The Hypath travelled well in the various size planes fitting easily in the overhead bins of even the smallest planes. We fell in love with this luggage set for it's versality, size, and strength and have used it to travel throughout the United States and internationally since that first trip. We have had no issues with our set except for the pet peeves seen in old reviews. Since we like Hypath so much we tried to order a 2nd set but it has been unavailable for such a long time that we had almost given up on getting a 2nd set until we were notified recently that a new version had been released . We immediately ordered it and received it today. Upon inspection we also like the various upgrades that have been made to the new Hypath version that has increased the quality tenfold. We like the heavier waterproof fabric (although we like the pattern of the old version better), stronger zippers, added pockets on the inside and the handle underneath that is fabric on the older version. The wheels are now larger so it has a sturdier feel when the carryon is being pulled. The handle can be pulled up in various heights which is very helpful and it feels stronger than the old handle. While it does cost more that we previously paid it feels like the price difference is warranted and fair, based on the enhanced quality of the new version. The only miss I think Hypath made was not improving the wheel system by designing and installing 4 free spinning wheels like most modern luggage which would give the carryon better mobility over different types of terrain and overall flexibility in moving it through the airport. Also it would be nice if wheels and a pull handle were added to the backpack for greater versality because there are times when that would be useful. Sometimes when I pull the old version long distances I get tired pulling the carryon. It can be pulled with the carryon sitting straight on smooth surfaces such as in the airports, but it would be way easier if the wheels are made to spin freely. It's not bad the way it is but it would be better. So we've decided that when Hypath finally wakes up and adds this wheel improvement we will give our current sets to our grandkids and treat ourselves to what will then become the best luggage on the market for us, the Hypath 2-in-1 carryon and backpack combo.
